CTW Moderators Maria Posted February 16, 2004 CTW Moderators Share Posted February 16, 2004 Dave, don;t worry about it. It's just feedback which is what you want / asked for. Don't take it to heart and stick at what you do It's a track listing that obviously they are not attracted to. Im sure it's a wicked CD and your mixing skills are spot on (I know you do mix well BTW !) and that's all that matters, dude Quote ClubTheWorld.com's OFFICIAL Events Reviewer
CTW DJs LiamStyles Posted February 16, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted February 16, 2004 I havent listened to the cd, but I can see two sides to this. I agree that the tracklisting doesnt appeal. And the fact you have used 2 tracks twice (all be it different mixes) just gave me the impression that you struggled to get enough good tracks for a cd. Whether you think this right or wrong, its my opinion. However, Dave is a dj. he can play whatever the fuck he likes and put whatever tracks he wants on a cd. he has given people on the board a chance to listen to his mix. ITS NOT GOING TO BE TO EVERYONES LIKING. Dont get so up tight about it dave, if you believe in what you are doing then a bit of slatting shouldnt matter. being a dj in itself is putting yourself in the limelight, putting your mixes up on a message board makes that fact even more dominent. CTW Promotors Lisa Posted February 16, 2004 CTW Promotors Share Posted February 16, 2004 QUOTE (Mr_Happy @ Feb 16 2004, 18:35) (as i've obviously not heard it) Exactly!!! Try listening before passing judgement & critisism!!! So what if there is two tunes on the cd, but different mixes!! It is a personal cd Dave made & I am sure he is well aware that playin the same tune in a set if is to play out would be a slight wrong move, try easing up eh!! I have been bugging Dave for months now to do me a cd, which he did & he is kind enough to offer us all a copy if we want one, yes im sure he would be grateful of all opinions but I can see how is now pissed of by peeps that have only read the tracklist & not actually heard the cd!!! Dave dont let em get to you, especially those that have NOT heard it!! Quote Techno, Techno, Techno

Word. As I said I think in future people should refrain from commenting on a CD until they have actually requested one and listened to it. This forum is primarily a FYI (for your information) forum, i.e. its for people to post info about their demos and ask if any promotors would like a copy. If I posted a demo up and the first few replies on the thread were all negative I would expect the average member to be put off, unfairly, perhaps not even bothering to read the rest of the post. All I'm saying is yes, give good feedback, but also give people a chance - its entirely possible we'll all just put people off from bothering to post their mixes again, which none of us want. I think the comments coming from the other DJs are generally really good, its just the odd member who never posts anything or their own except jump on others' work which annoys me most People should be able to post freely in here without the fear of getting really slated, but yes at the same time people need to be able to take critisism. In this case most of the replies are un-called for. Dave - As I say I, and others, are still very/genuinely interested in hearing this CD as its my kind of style. CTW DJs Tony P Posted February 17, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted February 17, 2004 well looks like i'm one of the few people here that has listened to this mix and In my opinion is SOLID, don't bother me about the same tune choice, think it flows very well, and tecnically for me is very very good. I suggest as mentioned by others, get a copy and have a listen. Then pass judgement

It would be like me not hearing your cd & saying well cant be very good if you managed to fit 17 tracks on to one cd, what is every track only half version??!!!! but no I listened & thought it was cleverly done, then told you!!! CTW DJs Phil B Posted February 17, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted February 17, 2004 for a few comments about a track listing i dont think being told to 'fuck off' is called for. the whole idea about putting a track listing up is to show people whats on the cd, people dont have to listen to it to comment on the listing. no-one made any judgement on how well it was mixed etc. if you cant take the feedback then people shouldnt post for the whole world to read! Guest Shenlong
I've not heard the cd so not gonna comment on it, but all laurence said was that the tracklisting to him lacked imagination, said nothing about his mixing abilities, no personal attacks or anything liek that. I don't know dave but he does come across as overly defensive in his posts here. Phil made the same comments on the cd as laurence has on the track listing but he didn't get told to fuck off. How would listening to the cd make much difference to waht you thought of the track list when exactly the same point was amde by both of them? CTW Promotors Lisa Posted February 17, 2004 CTW Promotors Share Posted February 17, 2004 I can see what you all mean, but I think Jimmy's comments were the one's that probably wound Dave up & TBH I do not blame him!!! There is a way in posting comments & I think it is known as tactful!! So I guess Dave was just reacting to Jimmy's comments!!
