QUOTE (Shenlong @ Feb 17 2004, 12:35)
I don't know dave but he does come across as overly defensive in his posts here. Phil made the same comments on the cd as laurence has on the track listing but he didn't get told to fuck off.

Everyone please note that I immediately deleted a load of totally irrelevant and off-topic early comments in this post - mostly by Jimmy. The thread was going fine until he made some very unfair & irrelevant comments which obviously wound Dave up (and would most definitely have wound me up).

This is the problem with moderating posts sometimes, the thread now looks like it was Dave who turned on people when it clearly wasnt - but now not clear to new readers of the thread. Sometimes threads get to the point they are beyond moderator-repair, but threads like these promotional ones shouldnt be deleted as its unfair on the original poster.

Perhaps we should delete all but the first post and start again ?

On a side note what is increasingly annoying is when people post an event and people who have no intention on going / who hate the genres being played reply with "its shit". If you arent interested in the slightest you should refrain from posting at all. Anyone posting off-topic and/or irrelevant comments will be placed in a permanent moderation queue - which gets looked at once a day currently.

Just hope Dave hasnt been put off from posting some future mixes.

im sorry to have to say this but being very honest here...

you post something on the net and you have to expect comments you dont like/may not want to hear. if you only want replies that say how great something is then it should only be shown/sent to the people who you know will give you this sort of feedback.

just to add i did see all of the posts made on this issue and i really think its all been blown up out of all proportion *shrugs*

ive not heard this cd but im going to pm him for a copy...

i will give my honest opinion (as i always do) on his mixing and tune choice..

to me im not bothered if he put a tune on twice..its a different remix so to me it wouldnt bother me... As long as the cd is mixed well and the tracks progress well im sure it will be good.

i dont think there is any need for slagging him off if you havent even heard it..ive had some cds sent to me that have got lots of different tunes on them but the mixing is shit...and if the cd isint mixed properly i wont listen to it...

I got a cd handed to me outside camden a few weeks ago, and put it on when i got back here...the guys mixing was spot on but his choice of tunes were awfull..the cd never progressed well - it went from bouncy to hard nrg to hard trance to hard nrg..totally terrible.

i put up a post on the tidy board about it saying how important i think it is to plan ur mix if your wanting to impress people ANYWAY turns out this guy is on the tidy board and i nothing but thanks from him as i gave an honest opinion.... so yeah its good giving an opinion BUT only once you have heard the cd...

rant over

look forward to getting my copy xxxx

ok, I think in summary the issue here is that we all like to recieve/listen to mix CDs for varying reasons. My reasons are first and foremost to listen to the way the tracks are blended together, and how the tunes build up/flow through the mix - i'm not so bothered about what the actual tunes are being played (rightly or wrongly) as I've heard most of them a dozen times before anyway, on a dozen other mix CDs (especially in the hardhouse arena). All DJs have good and bad sets/mix CDs (in terms of tune selection), I'm just saying dont rule someone out who happens to have created a track listing which doesnt fully suit your taste (I dont think i've ever bought/recieved a CD which has my ideal preferences on, and in the right order)

When I go for a job inteview I am not accessed on the languages/products I currently know, more that I'm asked to demonstrate my problem solving, communication, quick learning ability ...

(disclaimer: these are just my personal opinions - rightly or wrongly)
