It's really hard .. being a Mum

My elder daughter has gone from being a lovely, bubbly girl to a TEENAGER !

I guess I am lucky .. she isn't too bad at all ... but what really REALLY gets me down is her attitude to me .. and the way she talks to me .... the tone of her voice etc ..

I think I'm a pretty good Mum .. or as good as Mum as I'm going to be, having wanted dogs and not kids ...

I am extremely easy going and let her have friends over ... she doesn't help much around the house .. but then again, when I do ask her to she is so flippin moody and sulky about doing so that I hardly bother ...

It really gets me down .. so much so, that I feel like running away at times.

Just needed to get that off my chest ..

Saffy i know what u mean hun - my mates oldest daughter is the same. Same age also - but even I remember when I was liek that with my mum! Whenever she needs help with chores etc i always used to huff and puff and then give her a really disrespectfull attiude. But then its part of growing up etc. All kids have an attitude at that age - do u let her get away with things a little too often? If so then this could be one of the reasons why she delivers an attitude when u ask her to do sumthing. Like I say - kids will always go thru this phase when growing up.

It's what being a mum is all about. Your kids will always get you down one way or another. Sumtimes, it seems that no matter what u do for yr children at this age, they never appreciate it! Wether yr the best mum in the world (which im sure you are saffy!) or the worst mumn in the world, your children will always show some attitude, and cheek you and talk down to u, and thats when u gota put yr foot down and tell them they shouldnt speak to u in such an unapropriate manner.

Im sure she doesnt mean it and she doesnt love u any less!

Aww Creamy ... ((( hug )))

She's now banned from MSN ... we find that when she chats to her friends on there ... obviously trying to outdo each other over what they have been doing, she comes off with an " attitude" ...

She came downstairs .. after I specifially told her she was to stay upstairs this afternoon for showing me up in the local shop ... umm .. she's now bigger than me - in all ways - and trying to push her back through the door, is really difficult. I ended up kicking her arse .. and sitting behind the door so she couldnt come though ...

Now, if it were Michael that told her to go upstairs, she would go up, no problems, as she knows not to mess with him.

Am totally and utterly pissed off with her ..

Seems to me that she can get away with more things with you than she does her dad. Same with me. I get away with loads more my mum than i do with my dad!

Maria .. thanks .. [censored] .. am sat here bawling now!

I guess I have always found it easier to do things myself ... mind you, the time she tried to make herself toast she set the bugger alight ...

I get resentful as I think it's about the right time for me to look for a job with longer hours .. but I am dammed if I am whilst I get no help around the house !

Trouble is ... I get angry with Mike too ... he wants to take her to the footie on saturday as she hasn't been this season ... but I know that if he takes her ( £ 20 ) a ticket, I will be [censored] angry and take it out on him!

Well y not let him take her out? At least that gives u time to yrself and relax a bit.

As xpaulax says, they DO grow out of. Dealing with children that are going thru their teens IS hard. But u have to deal with it. They are still growing up and their bodies are still changing, hormones delvelop, kids get cheekier. It happens hun! But when she does finally realise that she has pissed u off to an extent where u cannot put up with her attitude anymore she WILL realise that she has to stop doing what she does that pisses u off.

At then end of the day sweetie, it's sumthing tat you have to deal with. We were all like yr daughter at her age, giver her time to mature a bit in her teens and im sure to god she will shape up and then start acting a bit more responsibe and show u a bit more respect.
