Right, well its about 4am, and a quite buzzing Wub Wub (ably assisted by Dooby *Dooby bows) have just got in from the Opera House. Slinky was the night, with Petrae Foy, Daniel Bailey and Scott Bond (hereafter referred to as 'Tubby') taking the controls. Trance of the highest order, methinks....

We got into Slinky quite early, about 9:30pm as per usual, and were treated to the wonderful Mr Petrae Foy demonstrating to us just why he is one of the most hotly tipped newcomers in the business. An impecable set was capped off by some sublime scratching (think Halliwell, but slower), and the use of classic tune Papau New Guinea to awesome effect of the by now quite large throng of clubbers. Foy displays a certain air of youthful exuberism behind the decks, pogoing up and down quite happily, and singing along to breakdowns. It's refreshing to see a jock get so animated behind the decks, and once again forces me to draw reference to Eddie Halliwell.

Daniel Bailey took the controls at 11pm, and the Slinky fave proved once again just why he is so appreciated on the south coast. Once again, sublime mixing and not too over the top scratching were in display, as Bailey's brutal trance workout left the dancers begging for more.

We were not dissappointed. Tubby's late arrival meant new lad Dav playing a bit, but only for 15mins. However, the recent Slinky resident competition winner showed his mettle and performed admirably on the fly, so to speak.

Once Scott Bond (okay, but he IS tubby) arrived, a slightly more mainstream trance sound took over the main room, but still the dancefloor heaved and swelled as though a mighty ocean. There were two 'unreal' moments in Bond's set.

1) 2am. Bond drops the 'Opera Song', and the volcano that is Slinky erupts.

2) 2:40am. Bond drops the hard trance mix of 'Insomnia'. Same effect.

All in all, a quality night. From the original lineup, I was expecting something a little softer than the average BPM's I'm used to, but a thorough trance workout (with special euphoric spin dry) was just what was needed for me, the soiled products of too many hard house nights. In a word, superb.

And, as I always say;

It's good to be home smile.gif
