[ Suggestions Please ] - New Event Submission/Tracking Engine

Dear Promotors & Club Owners,

 

I am currently re-thinking/designing the way in which we all post Event details.

 

We will be taking the event details away from the forums.

 

I have serveral of my own ideas as to how to improve upon the current methods but I would like to hear your views / what functionality you would like to have.

 

Please either PM me or reply to this post with anything you think should be included. I will then prioritise the full list of features and then get started on putting this new process in place !

There have been 1000s of posts explaining exactly why in other forums! We've all been discussing this urgent requirement for ages!

 

Perhaps I need to re-write / re-phrase the original post on this thread.

 

Events are getting lost, too many stickies, free for all, too much hardhouse, forums currently not fair on other genres, etc.. etc... We need the events side set up properly and categorised correctly with a proper search engine, proper event comments (without all the shite banter in-between), events linked to photos & DJs past sets properly, and even more importantly the automation of when people put their names down for an event.

 

these are just 'some' of the reasons why the event submissions need to come out of the forums. Forums will be used purely for additionally meet-up conversation and additional comments about nights out etc.. (and of course all the random stuff and other forums)

But for instance Alton Towers, over 10 people have asked about it but not seen the post, it needs to be made more clearer on the front page or rather a link from the front page. There is so much rubbish sometimes - which I'm to blame for - on the posts when events are put up, surely it would be better if people went to front page, clicked on the relevant non-events page, see whats planned for the next month or so and then be directed to either the post itself to add the name or email the person whos orgainsing it - which will always be detailed and add the name that way. No one can tell me they have never missed a post about certain events.

The forums are actually Discussion Forums - to discuss events/DJs/meets etc... They shouldnt be used for adding/maintaining the master events. No other board uses the boards like we do as they have done it properly. We are just using the forums as a dumping ground because we have no other better methods (at the moment)

I know there your rival James but the way harderfaster do it is very quick and easy and it's really good.

it was precisely that site which inspired me to do it properly - they have the best site around with the most content. i'm hoping one day we will offer a similar, but slightly different, service

 

and they are not a rival - we're all in this together!

Exactly. I don't think it would work if there wasn't discussion about events. Who would go to an event if they thought they were the only one going ? I'm not saying that having links on the front page into the forums isn't a good idea, I think it is.
