Was generally just curious to know whether any other peeps have come into contact with this drug. It was on donal mcintyre the other week,known as boo,ice, crystal meths or yabba.

Personally,havin lived in se asia for a while Ive come into contact(a bit too often I might add) with this 'dangerous menance',which I was shocked to learn will eventually cause the collapse of western civilisation if it ever hits thease shores.

Ive not known anyone personally that has come accross it in this country although i know its popular in the USA. "It is predicted that 'Meth' will overtake Cocaine as the USA's probles drug." (Ministry June 2000)

It was once used in nasal sprays in the 1930's. Now its being injected or smoked for an instant high and can keep you awake for days on end, giving a massive rush of dopamine. It is also said to be highly addictive.

The most dangerous part seems to be in the manufacture of 'meth' with amateurs 'cooking' it up in their home made labs, fires and explosions are common (if a fag is lit at the wrong moment, the immediate surrounding houses are likely to go up in a puff of smoke!)

i'm originally from the UK, now living in the US. i've heard the term speed (or nicknames like whizz, etc.) used to describe both amphetamine sulphate and crystal meth.

 

the effects of the two (different) substances are similar.

I saw a programme about crystal meth a while ago and I reckon I've had it. When we went to Peach for Sophie's b'day I had what I thought was the usual pills but they looked kinda brownish with this funny symbol. I went really mad for about an hour then hit rock bottom, got really moody, tired and it felt like everyone was really pissing me off. I had a look in mixmag and there was an article about it, the pill I had was identical to the one in the article.

If anyone gets offered it, I would NOT recomment it!!!

there is a non-profit organisation here in the US called DanceSafe which promotes an open exchange of information about pills. they publish reports on current pills doing the rounds like this:

they are funded by contributions and people commonly send them a pill from a batch they have so that the pill can be tested and added to the database. it's a refreshingly open way of dealing with the problem of dodgy gear.

 

they have even managed to set up pill-testing booths at clubs, after having agreed amnesty with the local law enforcement authorities - this is obviously not too common, sadly.

 

they also sell home testing kits so that people can be sure that what they are taking is what they think they are taking:

We get heaps of ice down here and its ugly. It gives the speed rush but it also fucks with your head. I find it makes me talk to myself in my head too much and creates a lot of paranoia with every conversation you have had while on it being over analysed in my head. Most of our drugs down here come from SE Asia so its probably the same gear as the stuff that Flakey Dove was getting. However we can't get Coke down here so I am hangin to give it a go when I get to London in four weeks.

It is believed that Yaba was first manufactured by the Nazis to keep their troops awake for days. It has now become increasingly popular in the Far East and is thought to be than heroin in Thailand.

 

I've only ever seen it in a club on a couple of occasions - both time in pill form (often red/orange, sometimes green), but drug experts predict that it may soon explode onto the UK club scene.

I think that it is a different form of meteamphetamine-based drug than Crystal Meths. Again, meths can keep you up for days (it was originally used by bikers and truckers to keep them up on long journeys.

 

Crystal is made of highly volatile, toxic substances (based on such chemical "precursors" as methylamine and amyl amine) that are melded in differing combinations, forming what some have described as a "mix of laundry detergent and lighter fluid."

 

The mixes are never exactly the same, but basic types are a rough yellow substance called Hydro and a smooth white blend called Glass. Half a gram costs around £25 and a £15 hit would probably keep you going for a few days.

 

The drug can either be snorted or injected, or in its crystal form 'ice' smoked in a pipe, and brings on a feeling of exhilaration and a sharpening of focus. Smoking ice results in an instantaneous dose of almost pure drug to the brain, giving a huge rush followed by a feeling of euphoria for anything from 2-16 hours.

 

For some this could result in obsessive cleaning or tidying, but for many the biggest bonus is the sense of sexual liberation which can result in mad, abandoned sex for hours - sometimes days - on end.

 

It's ability to keep users awake and feeling good for long periods have resulted in the drug making heavy inroads into the US gay dance scene, although its use is still rare in the UK.

 

Smoking ice results in body temperature rises and rapid cardiac and respiratory rates developing as the blood pressure increases. The drug can lead to hallucinations, paranoia, and bizarre, aggressive and psychotic behaviour.

 

Health risks: The effects and dependence potential of meth are similar to that of amphetamine misuse, although as the stuff is a lot stronger, the dangers involved are greater with an increased chance of overdose.

 

Overuse can bring on paranoia, short term memory loss, wild rages and mood swings as well as damage to your immune system. As far as we know, it is not physically addictive, although many have quickly developed a very strong psychological and damaging dependence for the drug.

 

So there you go.....sounds pleasant doesnn't it!

The last post seems to perfectly describe the drug (crystal}in essence as far as Im concerned(apart from the endless sex of course-damn).

Having,rightly or wrongly indulged in most substances at some point or other,this [censored] really is seriously heavy,god forbid that it does take off over here because if it does then things will definatly go a bit 'chicken oriental'.

Speaking as a fairly level headed kinda guy,who probably overdid it at one point,then the scariest thing about it is that havin not touched any for about 5 years,just sittin here thinkin about it about it now, I can feel my chest tighten slightly and a little rush of anticipation comes over me.

Christ,I was only ever a recreational user of it anyway and it can still have that effect on me even now.I think that says it all.

When it does eventually appear,and it will,then be very careful what your gettin into cos this is definatly major league.

Sorry to sound a bit preachy,but thats how it is.
