So, it was off to Liverpool for the second ClubTheWorld trip and after the first trip we wanted to make it a longer one! To be honest, to try and beat the first time would've been hard but it turned out this weekend was BETTER!!!

 

Friday 29th April 2002 - CREAM!

 

This place did actually suprise me, it was bigger than I had imagined! It was the last ever 'Bugged Out' night so it was always going to be packed out there and thats exactly what it was! There are three main rooms in this location, most of our time was spent when Eric Morillo started his 3 hour set from 1am to 4am! This guy is superb, not only does he mix in some TOP TUNAGE but he must surely have one of the cheekiest smiles in clubland, the atmosphere in this room was blinding, all 'up for it' people partying hard, it was non-stop! The other rooms in Cream included the Hard House and Trance which must have been the busiest seeing as there was an addtional queue to get in AFTER you had already queued up to get in the club! Unfortunately due to this reason we were unable to get in there! The third room plays Funky House which is where we started the night, I like to start off with a bit of the Funky stuff coz it gets you warmed up and in the mood! The best thing about all the rooms was the atmosphere, the only downside about the place was the fact that James and Paul could not take their cameras in, bit unfortunate but rules are rules and I'm sure they have their reasons - shame though because there could of been some really good pictures!!!

 

Saturday 30th April 2002 - GARLANDS!

 

After the last trip to Liverpool we had to take another visit to what is fast becoming Liverpool's No1 nightclub, voted No1 by MixMag - and we can all understand why - it has the kind of atmosphere some other clubs lack! As soon as you walk in you feel the calm relaxed chilled out way about the place, as well as this you have some serious party heads in there! Playing in the Funky House room was ex-Take That Howard Donald who was mixing in some tunes, I have to admitt it was the first time I'd ever come across this guy as a 'DJ' and I was a bit suprised at how well he actually did considering he came from a boy-band, I thought he'd play a bit of cheese - but no, it was blinding! Downstairs has to be one of the best trance / hard house nights I've had in ages, it was quite UNBELIEVABLE at how many tunes followed the other and the overall feeling about the place was unreal! The problem with Garlands in general is that you dont notice the time, you think you've only been in there for a few hours and then the next thing you know its lights on and chucking out time!!!! Some top people we met once again and a big thanks to all those people who make the night that bit more special!!!

 

Sunday 31st April 2002 - GARLANDS!

 

I have always said that I would never go to the same club two weeks in a row! Well, this just happened to be two nights in a row and to be honest I am glad I did! This night was a little more chilled out than the two previous nights events purely because everyones energy was low BUT it did not stop the atmosphere from being as excellent as ever and the funky house room banging out some top tunage! The only problem was that it had to close at 1am, nothing to do with Garlands, I'm sure if they had their way they'd have it open til at least 4 in the morning! It was down to some stupid local laws that prevented it from being open any later, once again the night went too quick although strangely I had enjoyed the funky house even more on this occasion!

 

GREAT WEEKEND, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT ATMOSPHERE, GREAT PLACE!

Just found this old post about one of the first ever weekenders - THIS is how it should be - fooking WICKED weekend.

 

Kev - we'll start arranging weekenders like this again as from the new year ! More diversity in music and places - its the way forward ! This time its not just talk though ...
