where do you draw the line

where do you draw the line between pisstakes and insults?

 

theres some on the board who i can be down right rude to, but i know them personally and both of us are aware it means nothing other than a wind up. But i do try not to take the piss out of people who dont know me that well as i dont see the point in pissing someone off just because it seems funny. (thats not to say i never take a joke too far mind)

 

but i have noticed some people on her can be down right rude to other members all in the name of 'good humour'. maybe i've missed the point and they are good mates too, but it certainly doesn't appear that why from other banter. (ie lack of FAOs between the two or the only comments made in reference to each other are nasty)

 

just wondered where you guys draw the line between pisstaking and insults?

(i feel this is relevant to the board as we're meant to be an 'online clubbing community')

btw- the idea for this thread had been sparked by comments made from one individual (which shouldnt be too hard to work out if you read the baord) but is by no way aimed at them.

as a rule i would only only take the piss out of someone by silly things theyve done or said or something that can be helped,i would never mock someone for a feature that cant be helped eg big nose,stutter,weight problems etc..that to me is the difference between piss taking and insulting

if the person throwing the insults "deep down" has good intentions towards whoever they r insulting, then i spose it's mostly harmless, and the person on the receiving end should give as good as they get in good humour.

 

if there's real nastiness involved, then f**k it i guess

as i said - the thread was insipred by your comment, but i wasnt being specific as i said my piece in that thread and considered the issue closed

 

this thread is more a general question. i know some people are more easily effended than others and i was just curious what some people would take offence to.

 

i know i dont easily take offence (especially not lately). and if i know the person, then they can pretty much attack me all they like and i'll laugh at it (imo if you cant take the mick out of yourself then why should you be aloud to tease other people)

 

btw: the reason why i didnt mention your name was because i didnt want to ge drawn into a specific debate. you should know me well enuf by know to know if i have a problem with someone i DO take it up with that person directly. dont see the point with beating around the proverbial bush

in my oppinion some things are best left unsaid, iv had plenty of oppertunities to insult people but havent because i know all to well how it feels to be on the recieving end of it.

it depends how personal it is really?

 

as I haven't actually met many people off here then I can't really take anything personally and ditto if I say anything to anyone else. More difficult is if someone says something biting that actually hits the spot about someone they know...

 

some people have thicker skin than others and people don't always realise that.

 

but at the end of the day it's not exactly the same as saying something to someone to their face...
