What?

i think last time something like this was posted up, alasdair was mentioning the difference between personal "religion"/spirituality/whatever, and "Religion", organised mass religion stuff, like the catholic church.

Religion is just a form of organised mind control, which serves only to create conflict. It has no place in a modern society.

My teenage daughter has been kidnapped, and the people I work with may be involved in both.

I'm Federal Agent Jack Bauer and this is the longest day of my life...

I persoanlly have no problem with most people's religion, as long as they actually stick to the tennets of their beliefs. it's when people use it as an excuse for other motives that it pisses me off.

Religion inevitably will be used for people's own purposes, it has throughout history. It's all well and good to say religion is ok in so far as people don't use it fot heir own ends, however we don't live in a perfect utopia and this will never happen.

most of the world's populace get on quite well with their religion and leave other people be/help others as they wish to be treated. it's more often the people in charge so to speak, of a particular group who will twist things to their own agenda. and that'll happen no matter what they are involved in.

plenty of things which are good as long as people don't use it to their own ends, ut people do still use them. e.g. axes and other weapons, they can be used sensibly and for good, or for harm

Agreed, however it doesn't alter my previous point.

Religion is open to interpretation and inevitably people are going to use/abuse it for their own ends. Whether or not it is a minority they are still causing terror and worries for the majority. If religion were not allowed/ in existence there would be no potential for this abuse.

Relgion is outmoded and outdated and simply does not serve the needs of a modern world, where much more can be explained by science. Once upon a time, it served to explain the unknown and people found solace in this. Yet today more and more people turn their backs on religion, whilst more and more serve to use it for there own purposes. It creates a blatant dichotomy, which cannot be solved, yet leads us into further conflict.

so because of the actions of a minority therefore the majority should be penalised/

same as how many thousands of people watch football epacefully but there are always some who use it as an excuse to go batter the living daylights out of each other everyday.

banning it would cause more problems that it would solve, you would ahve the same violence today if not worse.

although i personally don't subscribe to any particular religion, it brings peace, comfort and solace to many millions of people around the world who don't harm others? who are you or we to say cos of some people who claim to ahve the same beliefs as you cause trouble then youre not allowed to worship anymore and take that away from them?

telling people what they can or cannot believe is as bad as the religions that you condemn yourself. science is just a new form of belief anyways, not everything is set in stone, things change.
