.. is the new anti-dance law being being passed in the US at the moment ..

 

 

Reducing American's Vulnerability to Ecstacy, the law was widely publisised for it's labelling of GLOW STICKS as DRUG PARAPHANALIA. I chuckled a bit at the stupidity of this, until I picked up Mixmag today and read that fines of up to $25,000 are to be given to promoters who are proved to be knowledgeable that drugs are being used on their premises.

 

Drug paraphanalia listed as indicators of this knowledge include glow sticks, chill out rooms and BOTTLED WATER!!!.

 

Now, I may be a genius , but it doesn't take one to [censored] out three points if this becomes law.

 

1) Promoters will risk heavy fines by providing bottled water. Therefore it will become unobtainable. They may even be forced to prevent clubbers bringing their own in.

 

2) The name of this act is totally the opposite of what it will acheive. It will increase the likelihood of harm from ecstacy. An entire generation of clubbers are going to see death and misery as they lose friends and loved ones to heatstroke and dehydration.

 

3) The relatively new movement in the US is likely to move underground, where there will be far less control to protect clubber's safety.
