The Office is highly unfunny.

The Fast Show = The greatest comedy sketch show ever.

I loved that when it was on. I think they're doing a live tour around the UK at the moment, am considering going along to the one at Hammersmith Apollo.

I dont really know the names but was just thinkin about when I think its Gareth and the other one he works with closely were having an argument about him nickin his stapler and they were being really petty and stcking up folders so they didn't have to look at each other and that!!!! It doesn't sound funny how I described it but it really cracked me up....do you know the bit I'm on about?

i think the league of gentlemen is one of the darkest, most brilliant comedies ever.

Alasdair, i read recently that programmes like the LoG are becoming ever popular in the states and in general, British TV.

Not sure how much truth is in this though.... ?

I'm sure the US will broadcast that sort of thing once they latch on to its class smile.gif

for the first time in my (US) life i don't have cable or even networks - just use the TV for DVDs now. when i had cable, i could catch some UK shows on a couple of channels like PBS (public television) and a cable channel called BBC America.

i have a VCR which plays UK tapes so i have a pretty extensive range of stuff which i've brought back from various trips or been sent by friends in the UK.

i'm a big fan of steve coogan in his many guises - but especially alan partridge. i also love vic reeves and have most of that on tape too.

i'm no sure i would agree with you.

for me, the main difference between life in the UK and the US is the sense of humour. so much comedy is made up of cultural references that i think a lot of the effect would be lost in the trip across the ocean.

for example, i think the brass eye episode about drugs is just about the funniest thing i've ever seen but many of my US friends don't see anything funny in it at all. it's so much based on uk cultural waypoints, that's understandable.

Brass Eye: forgot to mention that.

Brass Eye, The Day Today and Blue Jam are amongst some of the most observant and hysterical comedy ever written. It's so spot on - as seen by the tabloid reactions to the most recent Brass Eye special.

Chris Morris is a genius!
