Cynical bunch.

I have great faith and repsect for the police and what they do. As in any profession, you get bad eggs. The police force is no different.

How many times do you take the police for granted, for simple things like asking directions, let alone solving serious and preventing serious crimes.

It's a pretty thankless task and I'm glad they're there and do such a good job.

My only experience of the Police so far is being told off by them when I was a kid, being told not to waste their time when I was mugged, being pulled over whilst driving (between the ages of 18 and 22, at some points as many times as once a week) and being arrested for drink driving.

I'm hardly a master criminal, but I've yet to see them in a positive light

you got arrested for drink driving?.....just goes to prove that there doing the job right then rolleyes.gif

snowqueen, just because your brother has a bad experience with the police, (which it was probably the courts desision on his punishment not the police) doesnt mean they are all incompetent,

i used to have the same thought about them myself till my brother-in-law and mate joined up and i have come to realise that its tougher than it looks, not just physically but mentally aswell.

so i take it if something bad happens you wouldnt call them?........what with them being a waste of space and all?????

who would you turn to instead? just out of curiosity like wink.gif

Actually he pulled me over because, he said "I don't like lads who drive Escorts"

Fair enough if he pulled me over for weaving all over the road (which I wasn't), but instead it was to do with his prejudices.

I make no excuses for my decision to drive that night.

I have called them out before and was told not to waste their time (see above re mugging). To be honest I have only needed them once and they didn't help.

he had never comitted a crime in his life...

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but you're repeating yourself, and you haven't answered my question:

What was the supposed motive? Did the court conclude that is was an attempted "insurance job" or something?

I agree, but some professions are more attractive to idiots than others. And the police force doesn't exactly recruit from the top tiers of society.

To be fair, on the whole, I've had reasonable experiences with the police. There are much more fascist forces around the world. But they don't exactly strike me as an intelligent, open-minded bunch.

It means the law abiding well educated people who bare no grudges. Not classes.
