Layo & Bushwacka!

Hello everyone

Could you help me? Last weekend I went to The End in central London to hear Layo & Bushwacka do an all night set. It was absolutely fantastic, possibly the best night I've had in London since the Chemical Brothers played at Turnmills for New Year's Eve!

My problem is this:

Layo & Bushwacka play 100% perfect music, for my taste. It is exactly the right speed (which I find best for dancing), exactly the right sound, beat, rhythm, feeling, "flavour", whatever you want to call it. Every track was different, it didn't get monotonous for one moment, but still every track was perfect and basically belonged to that same genre which I don't know the name of!

So, if you know their style of music - some people think it's called TECHNO HOUSE but I honestly get totally confused with all these labels - and if you know where in London I could hear it on a regular basis, I'd be grateful if you could let me know!

I've tried speaking to the club to ask but I can never get hold of anyone. I love clubbing hugely and go pretty much every weekend, but London is starting to go in one of two directions - either extremely fast hardhouse like Lisa Lashes etc, which is great but I just cant dance to it, or very slow and boring and monotonous like progressive trance that's starting to ruin my favourite clubs, like Turnmills and The Cross.

The music at The End was really energetic, really bouncy and funky, they even ocassionally slipped into a tune with vocals or saxophone (but that was exception rather than rule) but mostly it was good, hard, unrelenting, but not too manic or too drawn out. I can't describe to you the atmosphere - the crowd was simply besides themselves. I've had many good nights from Ibiza to Creamfields to around UK, but this was just tops. wiggle.gifwiggle.gif

Does this make sense? Can you offer any advice?

Followers of trance, please don't take offence - if you know where I can hear trance that will make me dance for 9 hours non stop as I did last weekend, rather than make me feel all weird and down, then please let me know!

Thanks in advance to everyone, and I look forward to meeting at least some of you soon!

Tech-house is proper bo!

If you're looking for tech-house in London, then look no further than Fabric (near Kings Cross). On Friday nights it's the cheaper Fabriclive, with mainly guest DJs, but Saturday nights is the proper Fabric night with the residents playing everything from house to techno and everything in between, until 6am.

I'm going there in January (for the first time) for my 21st birthday hopefully, yessss! Canny wait!! flash.gif

Thank you Tom! You see I never would have thought of Fabric, I was convinced that's only drum & bass on any night, and I don't really like that. Is it true that they have this bouncy floor in the main room, with speakers built into it? (maybe it's the most ridiculous wind-up ever, unfortunately I'll believe anything!)

Also, hello to the girls - thanks for welcoming me! It feels all warm and fuzzy in my tummy now :-))

If anyone catches me saying something totally mad that makes no sense, please bear with me - I am foreign, and although it looks like I speak good English, sometimes I'll get a phrase totally wrong and everyone around me falls about laughing.....

Cheers for now nut.gif

Sorry I should have welcomed you as well! Welcome to CTW wavey.gif

Yep, Fabric on Friday nights runs a night called Fabriclive which has a lot of drum+bass, but also some breaks and good house music as well. That's usually about £12. But then the Saturday night Fabric night (that's just what it's called) is more expensive at £15, even though it's mainly to show off the residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis, but apparently well worth it, and they also have guests on Saturdays too (obviously!). Saturdays are mainly tech-house/techno/house.

I got told by someone else just the other day that Fabric have upgraded their sound system so now apparently it makes theirs the number one club sound system in the world! Which -- if it's true -- is even more reason to go.

I doubt they have a bouncy dance floor. Although I did go to a club once in Leeds which had a revolving dance floor... it almost made you feel sick...!

Tom, yep I thought the bouncy floor might be a fib grumpy.gif

however the more I hear about Fabric the more I like the sound of it.

When in January is your b-day? Are you coming down with mates and/or will you try and organise something through CWT?

Hiya CreamyC

I've been looking at various forums today and your name keeps popping up - you sound like possibly the biggest nutter in here :-))

Ops, that was meant to be a compliment! banghead.gif

(can't believe I said that - can I replace the word "nutter" with "interesting and original young man", please?)

When do I stop being a NEWBIE anyway?

Better go now do some [censored], have a good weekend everyone

'till next week

A.

Hello!

Welcome to CTW!

It's not really a bouncy.gif floor at Fabric it's just made that it vibrates alot with the music so that u can really feel the bass!

It's only on the dancefloor to the right as you come down the stairs.

See ya mad.gif
