Hello Party Pants

And everyone else! With your crazy nicknames and even crazier graemlins, I feel like this is Alice in Wonderland or at least Muppet Show . Loooveeeely (well, if I didn't like different states of mind I wouldn't be a clubber in the first place, right?)

CreamyC, you're a star. Or, five stars, even! flash.gif

I am in London, south-west. Anyone here like techno house and funky house or are you amongst the hardhouse majority?

When in January is your b-day? Are you coming down with mates and/or will you try and organise something through CWT?

Hello again, whoops, sorry I forgot to answer your question!

My birthday is January 14th and I'm 21! So I have to do something big which is why I'd like to go to Fabric. smile.gif I will probably be going on Saturday 18th January with some mates from Edinburgh, going down on the train and coming back first thing on Sunday morning! nut.gif

My first choice would probably be going to a decent techno club in London, but I'm not sure what the good techno nights are, apart from Lost (and I've even heard that Lost isn't very good) -- I don't think London can do techno very well! wink.gif So Fabric is my second choice, to get some tech-house, and I'm counting down the days already.

It'd be good to make it a CTW outing to Fabric, but I'm not sure who'd want to come, and I seem to remember it clashes with something someone else has suggested, but I've forgotten who and what!

I will pester everyone at the NEC tomorrow about going to Fabric ... wink.gif

hello m8 and welcome 2 ctw

fabric has got speakers under the floor in room 1, with rubber strips along it so it does actually wobbles, its the only one in europe, however the last few time ive been the system has sounded more quiet than usual. If you go try to make sure you go when unkle are there though cos they are the badgers nadgers eek.gif

Hahahha! That's a class joke, sick tho wink.gif

Welcome to CTW (tho I've been here less than you!)

The End is the place to go for techno and tech house in London. Depends what u want really - they have some quality guys there as well as Layo and Bushwacka! Laurent Garnier, Mr C (as he owns the gaff!) all sorts, and if you fancy it a bit funkier (well not as tech-y) Underwater's there once a month, can't remember when - think it's the last weekend, but I'm not sure. It's Darren Emerson's night, so it'll be quite chunky, but as he's teamed up with the likes of Morillo, it's very house-y too.

Fabric's fantastic - the jury was out for me til the 3rd or 4th time I went there. The building's amazing, but not the best design club wise (toilet log-jam - pardon the phrase!) and the floor does bounce but not as much as they've clamped down on the volume there, tho it depends which night u go.

Type at the Cross is really good too - more proggy (my style hehe) but you get a v wide range of people going......

Hope that helps! (and yes, as u may ahve guessed, I live in London!) grin.gif

Enjoy! thumbs.gif

Hello mate

Well, guess what! Just been to Underwater at The End this weekend just gone!!! It was superb, they had Stanton Warriors on first and it was funky as funky gets - wicked stuff. Now, Darren Emmerson was alright, but to be honest at the beginning of his set - just after the change of DJ - he went into some totally unbelievable build-ups that had the crowd going mental like I haven't seen for a long while. Every hair on my neck was standing up, and I was thinking: can he take it any higher, and can he make it go on any longer? But the problem is when you open it like that you have so much to live up to, and basically he didn't (in my opinion). It was good, but nowhere near as mindblowing as his opening 5-10 mins.

Layo&Bushwacka again at The End this coming weekend! Unfortunately we're going to Liverpool to Garlands but I'm sure that'll be good.

Yes, I like tech-y and I like funky and I can't wait to go and see this Fabric place, finally.

London's not bad, eh? wink.gif

Can somebody settle a question re. music? Does "progressive" mean 1) new, inventive etc etc 2) the track progresses from basic beat by adding stuff one by one on top of it, until it reaches "climax" and then it starts again. There seem to be divided opinions on this and I'd really like to know what CTW vote for!

shhh.gif ops there's my boss, better go now....... eviltongue.gif

Does "progressive" mean

I don't think it's really ever meant anything. OK, it's a label given to a certain sound, so that you can say "oh that's progressive, that is", but I can't see how the word "progressive" relates to something about the music itself.

These days it's being misused all over the place. We mustn't forget that dance music always likes to steal its words from rock. See: garage, progressive [rock], etc ...

Fabric on Sat January 18th, can't wait, it's going to be soooo good.
