CTW DJs DJ Elemental Posted November 7, 2002 CTW DJs Share Posted November 7, 2002 Alright peeps I was wondering if maybe a few of you could help me out. I am finally going to start sending off some of my music, starting off with the lame ass stuff, working my way up to the someone professional quality. Could any of you possibly recommend some record labels to me, preferably small ones, as I don't think i have much of a chance with the big boys yet, although i am going to see off to tidy trax worth a shot I guess. Any info will be great! Cheers guys Quote http://bos.abavagada.net/oddfiles/djelementalonline.jpg

CTW Reviewers Wub Wub Posted November 7, 2002 CTW Reviewers Share Posted November 7, 2002 By mentioning Tidy Trax, I think we can assume hard house, so I'd suggest; Tidy Trax Vicious Circle (depending on hardness) Nukleuz (send to colour specific, depending on style of music, ie Nukleuz green for hard trance) Those are the three big boys of hard dance, I suppose. However, as everyone has their own particular favourite labels, there's no reason why you shouldn't send out a mix of stuff to labels that you like. I'd go for; Honeypot Tinrib Stormtrax But that's only cos I routinely buy from those labels, and thus know what kind of music they release. Quote Harder. Faster. Better. Stronger. Badder. Smarter. CTW Members Nick G Posted November 7, 2002 CTW Members Share Posted November 7, 2002 Don't be afraid to send your stuff out to the big labels - if they don't like it, then so be it. They'll quite happily give you some pointers as to where they think you're going wrong, should you require them too. Try to arrange a meeting with them too if poss so that you can sit down and play them your tunes - that way you know they've heard them. Also send your tunes to the labels you would like to see them come out on. Remember - nothing ventured, nothing gained.
CTW Members Mr Happy Posted November 7, 2002 CTW Members Share Posted November 7, 2002 wub_wub - tinrib and co actually runs several record labels: do not bend (karim) tinrib (tinrib) dirty house grooves (tinrib) Chug n' Bump Records (Dave Randall's Label) did find a whole list of em yesterday but dunno where it is now Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/
CTW Members Mr Happy Posted November 7, 2002 CTW Members Share Posted November 7, 2002 back to the topic - ur best bet is going round ur local record stores and taking numbers and addresses of all the smaller record labels they know of (and they will know of sum small labels cuz friends of friends run em n stuff) go thro all of ur 12" records cuz they *will* have addresses to send demos/promos to u could possibly even send off to sum of the more technical DJ mags (DJ, iDJ and jocky slut) as they do features on production and oftern competitions so they can analise ur music and tell u what 2 do and where to go with ur style and take copys of ur stuff on CDs when u go clubbing and give em away to the DJs - @ the very least if DJs r playing ur tunes then that is an advert in itself to other record labels (or on ur CV) and most DJs run thier own record labels as well so they might even snap it up just a few ideas - more might come to me Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/
CTW DJs DJ Elemental Posted November 8, 2002 Author CTW DJs Share Posted November 8, 2002 Hey guys, cheers for all this info. My last few albums have been melodic trance, Hard Trance and some Hard House I have also been experimenting with trying to make my own sort of genre that is proving successful. I think you guys’ might of heard one of my tracks already? if not you can download a 2 minute clip on one here http://www.dj-elemental.cjb.net/nativity.mp3 I’ll do that thing which you said about going around record shops and stuff, Also I help run the largest night out in Wales, so I’m thinking of approaching the team and asking them if I can do a live PA set ( http://www.evolution-experience.co.uk ) I’ll also approach some of the Labels and Magazines you suggested. I know some people who [censored] for Radio Pembrokeshire ( http://www.radiopembrokeshire.co.uk ) so I’m going to talk to them and see if I can get some air time as well Is it worth sending sample CD's off to clubs? As I know someone has already sent one of my songs to Gatecrasher, do you think this is beneficial?
