advice on live pa..............

Its what id like to do eventually, anyone with any good advice about this?

 

Can it be done just with Software and still be 'live'?

Would it be better to [censored] with a dj n mix from live to vinyl?

Ive been thinking bout this for a while but was never in the position to put 100% into it till now, so if anyone can help with advise etc, would be gr8

Alright mate,

 

Im doing a PA set in college soon, as well as local clubs, bassically what I am going to do is put the mix onto a mini disc, and hide the player in the mountain of equipment im going to have, I know its not the best option, but for me I think its the safest.

 

I suppost if you did want to perform something, you could knock off the melody lines and perform them, Other than that i dunno what else to tell you, It will be intersting to see what the otheres say, I'm also interesting in learning better means of doing a PA set

You could get two laptops, each with copies of Fruityloops (or whatever sequencing soft you use) and connect them both to two channels on your mixer?

 

Then you could, in theory, "construct" the track as it's playing. Removing elements, adding elements .. as long as the two tempos are the same, and you already have the samples loaded up and ready, you could basically just create your own seamless mix of your music and retain control over it at all times. And you could add on synths and a filter, etc.

 

Would take a lot of practice though.

 

There's a French techno/electro guy called Southsoniks who does that for his live performances, and I've always wanted to see him live, I'm sure I'd be amazed ... http://www.southsoniks.com/

where i live most of the parties i got to feature at least one live set. i'm mostly into psychedelic trance and live sets seem to be be very prevalent within the psytrance music community.

 

not sure if you listen to psytrance but you should check this thread

 

and maybe do some research on some of the acts i mention - all of whom have played (amazing) live sets here.

i talked to a good friend of mine who is playing live in a couple of weeks - he plans to just sequence everything live using Logic.
