Sarah, why not? apart from that i normally eat loads of rice, with something like chicken and chinese veg in black bean sauce. Normally eat about half healthy and healthy not, and have about 3 meals a day that size. would have thought lots of calories would help as long as i do exercise too confused.gif

The burger meal u described earlier had a higher fat content than protein or carbs. Ok you are taking in calories but not the right 'sort' of calories. Eat high protein & high carbs from chicken, fish, rice, potatoes & try to eat 5 times a day & you will put on the 'right sort of weight'.

Maybe FredTheBaddie will tell you more as hes a trained fitness instructor.

cool, cheers for the info, guess i'll have to try make all of my meals more healthy. Although i still don't understand why i'm not even getting any fatter even if they are the "wrong sort" of calories. I always presumed eating loads would make you fat. shrug.gif

Not really convinced about this Right and Wrong sorts of food. Good and Bad calories ect. Healthy, unhealthy. A Calorie is a calories is a calorie.

Average human needs around 2500 calories per day to sustain current weight.

Do more exercise become more muscular you will need more.

Do less exercise and become less muscular and you will need less.

Ingest too many calories, they will be stored as body fat, ingest less calories than you need, and the body fat will be used up.

Tuna Sandwich is around 400 Calories, which is the same as two bags of crisps!!.

Food and Drink, including alcohol, all gets broken down to water simple sugar’s, amino & fatty acids, vit’s and min’s in the stomach and gut before it can be absorbed anyway.

In the west it is difficult NOT to get the essential vitamins and minerals that we need.

Vegetables, and carbs are more bulky and filling, but less satisfying, and tend to be less calorific. Protein and fat, are more satisfying but less filling, and tend to be more calorific. Alcohol provides loads of calories, but doesn’t feel like it does. (possibly cos it is absorbed so quickly!!)

Ranolph Finnes, when he walked to the south pole, was eating 4-5lb!!s of butter a day, + a little soup and dry biscuit for variety, and lost about 3 stone, during the trip.

About 50% of the fat we eat is mono unsaturated, and there is starting to be doubts that excessive saturated fat necessarily gives rise to high blood cholesterol.

I think the problem we have, isn’t what we eat, so much as it’s how much we eat. Most peeps get fat (self included) cos they just eat too much, and drink too much. Peeps who don’t get fat, eat just about enough to meet their needs.
