Hmm I was wondering how I would go about doing crowd interaction, I mean I cannot take my hands off the keyboards so body language cannot be used..can it?

Any advice on crowd interaction when doing a Live PA would be useful, cheers guys! thumbs.gif

Keep your head up high,a big grin on your face and the occasional hand in the air/ lifting it to the air now and again when not using it mate. Good luck! Lots of body movement/giration like Lab 4 as previously stated!!

You need to prove to the corwd that you are getting off on the music as much as they should be!

Best thing I ever saw was NIN. Would take a bit of construction, but the keyboard was on a stand which was just supported on one side, so it rotated around it, and it had a big spring on it so it bounced up and down, so you could rotate the keyboard, and during pauses beat the crap out of it, and it would bounce around, looked great fun

NIN = Nine Inch Nails, so I figure they actually had it custom made for themselves. He definitely used it on the '94 tour, think they mat have used it on "The Fragile Tour", so if you know anyone into them, it may feature on the Live "All That Could Have Been" DVD - which to my shame I don't own yet

The tough bit would be getting it to support all the weight.

Nine inch nails? Bit too metally for me mate, heard of em but never heard em if you know what i mean. Still from what you say they had a bit of class with the custom keyboard. Respect!

I reckon eye contact with the crowd is important. Look up from the keyboard/decks/whatever and engage the crowd.

They should know that U know they're there - If you just keep your eyes on what you're doing you may as well be in your bedroom

Not that I've ever done a live PA before, but I've seen plenty of gooduns!

Any messages you may receive bear no insight whatsoever into the mind of the sender - He hasn't got one!

NIN do some "metal" stuff, but they are quite diverse, and Trent Reznor is a very talented musician/synthiesist/sound architect. It is worth reading up on their studio techniques (there studio is networked up, so they can all [censored] in separate rooms, but access each other's mixes and stuff, sounds really cool)
