iv heard so much about this docufilm, it has caused so much friction, i feel the need to watch it, as someone thats thankfully never experianced an abortion (and wouldnt want to either) i think it will help me understand what really happens instead of listening to the scare tactics pro-life campainers throw at us.

up untill christmas i had the same views as a pro-life supporter but as some of you may know i had a bit of a scare and as bad as it may sound fortunately i didnt have to make the disision (sp?) myself, it was taken out of my hands (miscarrige), but for a while i could think about nothing else.

i still beleive that there shouldnt really be any reason for unplanned pregnancy these days as there is so much choice when it comes to contraception (and its all free, just thought id add that sorry.gif ) unless its forced pregnancy/intercourse of course

hope this documentary opens a few minds of those that are pro-life or even stops people treating abortion as a form of contraception.

like to know if anyone watch's this tomorrow or even discuss your views on terminations (yes, i know its been done countless times before) smile.gif

i think we all know wat abortions entail, without it being strewn across our screen,

i for one couldnt think how someone wants to willfully watch that procedure taking place...

after all its not like watching the removal of an appendix is it?

Sick as fuck

and channel four purely have done it for this media attention

as well as tring to persude the dense members of our society to tune into this

id rather frig myself thanx

sat through far to many abortions!

Ive seen enough too (in my old job ) sad.gif and its certainly NOT something that should be shown on tv, very upsetting

Im sure just like the autopsy before on channel 4 people will be watching just for the shock factor tho...its a difficult and involved subject which just leaves me scratching my head thinking about it........... (no i dont have nits!!) thumbsdown.gif

Louise - very sorry to hear about what happened to u at christmas huggles.gif i can only imagine how hard it is going through something like that

If i should die this very moment,
I wouldn't fear,
For i have known completeness like being here.
Wrapped in the warmth of you,
Loving every breath of you,
Still my heart this moment or it might burst,
Can we stay right here,
Untill the end of time,
Till the seas stop churning,
Wanna love you till the seas run dry.
Cos Ive found the one i am searching for...........the one.

very interesting article in the guardian today about this programme and the abortion debate in general, it's at the bottem of the 'comments and analysis' page if anyone's got it, or might be on their website, haven't checked.

well, we all know what the effects of war are but it's still shown on tv. we all know what the effects of a train wreck are but they still show it on tv.

people know where the off button is - if they don't want to see it, they can take some responsibility for their own viewing schedule and just switch channels or switch off.

not very often i do this but im with alasdair on this one.

just because its a taboo subject why shouldnt it be shown on TV, you could see the same images if you spoke to a pro-life campainer, just because this has came from someone actually having the abortion it was labled 'wrong'.

Having seen that programme last night, my view has slightly changed. I agree with u now, maybe there is no reason why it shouldnt be shown on tv.

Unfortunately its a part of modern day life and we cant just shove it under the carpet. As Alasdairm says, they show much worse things on tv everyday.

Im still pro-choice but do not agree with abortions over the 12 week period.

Although its unpleasant and upsetting, i admire a woman that has the courage to think that bringing up an unwanted child into the world is not a kind thing to do

Agreed. I'm glad we don't censor the media so much these days.

Case in point, that TV documentary about people of indeterminate gender the other week ... what a fascinating program! I'm glad they didn't shy away from showing bits of the operations (even if it was a little cringe-inducing in places).

I'll be the first to admit that sometimes, yes I do just want to turn off the news and pretend that there isn't lots of shit going on in the world, but I think everyone has the right to know (and see) the reality of war/abortion/whatever.

^ true. Reminds me of the animal rights activists you get in Camden or wherever, with their posters of mutilated animals.

My objection to that kind of thing isn't so much the graphic images, but the cheap shock-tactics, the brainwashing of people who blatantly don't know the full facts, the simplistic black-and-white perspectives, misrepresentation of the facts, etc...

Is someone who's for abortion, anti-life?
