Hey, it's working for me, I'm far too busy to read every single post on here, and if it means that there's a big section of posts that I don't have to read, I'm happy.

As for cross-genre events, you can always post a link from one forum to the other.

I agree Fred.... i think when theyre all ion one forum that it does move too fast and other non hard house events do go unnoticed, this way makes it better and its only 1 extra forum!!

Completely Completely agree with FTB, and Claire...+ when it gets to this week, they both go back to one forum anayway, so it works really well.

kinda confused what to do about this again now but having said that it seems FtB and Big E (who are not strictly HardHouse lovers by the way) seem to agree with the way things are at the moment.

I got another couple of people moaning at me today saying its looking more and more like a Hardhouse site because of the HardHouse Event Suggestions forum - but as stated already in this thread this was set up purely to show that we dont want to be just Hardhouse based site and the Other Clubbing Event Suggestions forum was placed there to give non-HH night higher exposure and to make it easier to find non-HH suggestions.

I dont think any of us here want this site to turn into a genre-specific site.

I agree with Sarah though that some nights could be in both sections, but as FtB says we can just link or post twice I guess.

Another suggestions someone else came up with was whether we should have the suggestions split by region rather than genre ???

Hence the shared calendar idea

There is a shared calendar in place but I'm not sure many use it - you can get to it from the 'Calendar' link on the main page.

Right,

We've decided to put the Event Suggestion forums back to how they were - as one.

If people feel that there are any non-hardhouse nights which aren't getting high enough exposure we will make the posts 'sticky' so they stay at the top of the listings. Remember you can always reply to your own post to make it jump back up to the top.

I'm sure in time the Clubbing Event Suggestions forum will cater for all music genre tastes.

Hmm maybe the calendar could be upgraded to work a bit more like a discussion forum (for making arrangements etc) then the forum for event suggestions might be slowly phased out?

Then maybe if you're feeling really advanced with the programming when someone adds an event to the calendar they could pick maybe two or three genres to file it under, then you could just search for events in your region with your genre. Ehh bingo.

Soz, lol James, telling you how to run this site. rolleyes.gif

Anyway this topic certainly is a:

yep - agreed - once all data is in mySQL this will be pretty easy.

In the meantime I can add more categories to the calendar and you can filter on category - whether it be area or genre ?

again though, the Calendar was just a bought product and is just flatfile based, this is why i'm moving more and more towards writing my own stuff - so I can integrate things nicely with the rest of the site. The gallery software is turning mySQL based soon so that will be cool.

How about having the musical genre in the subject line of a post, something like:

[HARDHOUSE] event x on the y December

[TRANCE] event w on z December

That way, at a glance, you could see what's going on without having to switch between different forums ... just an idea
