Which digital camera to buy?

'ello,

I'm thinking of buying a digi cam - narrowed it down to either the Sony DSC-P9, the Fuji 401, or the Minolta Dimage Xi.

Can't make up my mind which. I've used Sarah's P9 which was awesome, but the Fuji is a bit smaller and also 4M pixels - anyone got this?

The cam has to be 3-4M pixels, and I want it to easily fit in my pocket.

CaptainRik - which cam do you have?

Thanks!

Matt.

alright matt m8 grin.gif

it might be a bit out of your price range but if you can get hold of the olympus c-4040 zoom on sale (normally £500) then definitely buy it. it has the fastest glass (f1.8) of digitals, meaning it can take amazing shots in the lowest of light without flash (ideal for nightclub shots, then) and picture quality is the dogs bollocks, proper pro quality, and it's 4mpixel.

only prob is it isn't the smallest of things, but i do carry it around in my pocket. *squeeze*

if u want some sample pics then i can email u them over or check out http://archive.cscot.com - all taken by me with that camera.

p.s. cool meeting u at tidy, soz, i was a bit of a space cadet, i enjoy walking around instead of, erm... actually staying put...

"This camera is simply amazing!" JgO! on 21-Sep-2002 10:02:14 pm

I researched the 2 megapix market for quite a while and it had come down to the S200 and the Dimage X by minolta. I decided on the S200 and I'm glad I did. The reviewers that complain about soft images, weird flash performance, not enough capacity in mem. card etc. obviously did not take time to read the manual. I have a Mac and expected some trouble with sofwarebut it was a smooth install. I plugged in the USB and the computer recognized the S200 as a drive and automaticaly launched the browser... one click and the picture's uploaded! With the 8mb card supplied, in med res. and med compression I could get about 24 pics! I don't think I need the 64mb card I bought! And the images are ultra sharp. I could count the whiskers on my cat!! Don't hesitate with this one. It's a winner! I've only had it for about 4 hrs. and I love it already. Go buy one!

this is a review from www.cnet.com. Out of 137 users, 98% recommend it! They are talking about the S200 and we have the S230 (difference being that ours has 3.2 mpxls)

You can get one for about £375 in the U.k. or £300 from ebay (yank import, same camera different writing on it) thumbs.gif

with 128mb flash card you can take up to 1400 pics (depending on resolution)
