Set off from sunny Llandudno at around 4:30pm as we (Me, MC Lox, Lox's misuss + Gremlin) were gonna try a different route this time around to see if it was any quicker, instead of taking the motorway past Leeds etc we decided to take the A roads that go straight accross the country from Chester to Skegness. Wasnt any quicker infact it took longer than usual and we arrived at F.I at 9:30pm. Parked up in the special DJ's car park (wahey!) and headed inside. No fuss with the guest list this time and we headed straight into the complex. Was told before hand that I was playing in the arena where the arcade usually is so we headed straight for that area, saw a sign above the door saying 'Hard trance' so I wandered in, the room was absolutley rammed and the dancefloor was rocking!! needless to say I was really exited about playing in front of an up for it, packed out room! however as I got nearer to the DJ box I realised that either DJ Vortex (who was on before me) had shrunk, deyed his hair brown and started playing 'Ibiza' style trance or I was in the wrong room! unfortunatley it was the latter and I headed off to find the correct arena. it was now 9:45pm and I was on at 10pm and we could not find the techno arena anywhere, we asked 3 security people where it was and they said 'sorry mate we dont usually [censored] here, we dont know' finally found the bloody arena hidden away by the main enterance and with no signs indicating the arena!! got inside and there was a decent enough crowd bopping about to Vortex who was doing a B2B with Mike TT. They were playing the usual hard as fcuk Italian Hard/Tech-Trance (59 records, Stik etc) good stuff! checked out Mikey's new bit of skirt (Lauren??) Mmmmm! I was on next, started fairly slow (135pbm) and built up the tempo through to 150bpm and finished on about 155/160bpm. Played a mixture of German/Italian/British stuff, labelwise - Overdose/Gas Europe/Stik/Titanic/Wicked Tunes. Was really pleased with my set and thought it went really well apart from one mix that fcuked by knocking both needles at the same time (Dex were on a wobbly table) whilst fcukin around with the gains on the mixer trying to swap the bass over from one tune to another! bah! oh well cant win em all! Some Irish bird came up to me though and said she thought I played a wicked set (Raaaaaa!) and could she have a photo of me, he he! Alarm was up next, dont ask me what tunes he played coz I aint got a clue but it was quality Nu style gabber right up to 200bpm sorta stuff. He started a bit cheesy and I let him know on the mic, got the crowd to scream for some evil, twised gabber and he obliged by playing waht I can only describe as a fcuk off distorted kickdrum and some mad distorted noize! (Promo stuff??) anyways wicked set as usual! Dolphin next, again dunno what tunes were played but it seemed faster than his usual stuff, played one track that was totally fcuked up, sounded like it was speeding up then slowing down then speeding up again. As always with our sea dwelling friend quality set!!!! Went for a wander after Dolphin's set to check out the other arena's. I think this year the layout was much better and the flow of people through the main arena was much better. The main arena or the live arena IMO was a total waste of time and money. There was only a small group of people in there each time I walked through and I head that the live acts (Kelly Llorenna etc) had bottles of water throw at them (Ha!). Would of been better to keep this space as a chill out area or something. Heard 70's tunes coming out of the House arena so fcuked that off straight away (another waste of money IMO) Had a look in the Hardtrance arena and walked straight out because to be fair this room should have been called 'Slowed down Hard House' arena as thats what it sounded like plus most of the DJ's in there were Hard House one's!!!!! Decided to head to the Hardcore arena to see in the new year. Fair play to the Vibealite crew the production was spot on! like last year the light show was awesome! the lazers were top and the backdrops were mas as fcuk!!! think the lighting engineer went a little ott on the strobes though! two people apparently collapsed due to the strobes! the muzik was stopped immediatley though and the security and paramedics were on the spot fairly quickly to help the people out! good to see. the glitter cannon on the stroke of 12am was cool aswell. can only really remember Marc Smith's set from the Hardcore arena and it was quality Freeform all the way, played some awesome pumpin tunes. System could have and should have been much louder though! The DnB arena was cool. went to check out Goldie, fair play he is a wicked DJ, spot on mixing throughout! started fighting and beat fcuk out of some gezzer though which wasnt nice to see! the atmosphere was pretty laid back in this arena and it probably had the best system in the whole event! Now I dunno if anyone else noticed but I felt the atmoshere completley died after about 2am!!?? one min the party was in full swing and the next everyone is sitting down pulling faces! what happened?? We left at about 2:45am as we had a killer journey home and we were all knackered! had a good journey home exept for hitting a dead badger at around 110mph ha ha, and we got back at around 5:45am. The only main bad points of the night were the quality of the sound systems and the EXTORTIONATE bar prices! £3 a shot of JD!!!!!! Fcuk, I pay £3 a double with coke at my local!!!!! luckily I smuggled a 500ml bottle of Southern Comfort in with me in my rec bag, coke was £1.50 a can though!!!! Overall a top quality night, maybe not as good as last year but wicked all the same. top marks to Gary, Paul and Sal @ Vibealite for all the effort and for putting on a top event! Ikon out. It was next to the entrance to the millenium roller-coaster if that helps! was a good little room, not overly full but not empty either! there was a good atmosphere in there aswell! Right, The main Hard trance arena had mainly Hard House DJ's playing UK Hard Trance which is basically Hard House slowed down! this arena was sorted months before the event. A few weeks before the event I was phoned up by Sal, one of the promoters of the event and he told me they were doing another arena consisting of Hardcore Techno, Acid Techno and Hard Trance. I play mainly German and Italian stuff which is much 'harder' than the UK stuff and more 'underground' sounding, so the room I played in was like an underground Hardcore/Techno/Hard Trance room if you get that?!
