What is the next best thing since

I've always assumed that it would be sliced cake.

 

Does anyone agree?

Well I don't like cake so it wouldn't be in my case...I do, however, like chocolatey muffins (sliced or not...although for the purposes of this thread let's say they're sliced shall we) and since they're *technically* halfway between a bready thing and a cakey thing would that make sliced muffins (chocolatey or otherwise) the 'next best thing'?
