Live Chat ???

Found a REALLY nice live chat client - flash driven

 

It's basically the BEST one out there without a shadow of a doubt.

 

Question is - do we want it ? would we use it ?

 

Most people have MSN but this could be cool and I could integrate into message board...

we had problems before because people logged in as other people - they wont be able to do that on this one

 

but we only have 40/50 people online at once right now so not enough so warrant a chat room anyway.

 

we'll leave it for now...

A) if the chat room was a success, it would drive convo away from the baord

you could always just start a ctw IRC channel? if people use a universal IM client (like trillian) it has IRC built-in.

guys, this was all about installing a properly integrated chat room - i.e. so simply that its no effort to use and much more secure as people can only speak using their registered names and not pretend they are others (which is what happend before).

 

personally i dont think it would stop the amount of posts going up but even if it does I dont see this as an issue. people will still make & reply to event suggestions and get involved in debates etc...

 

I was just very impressed when I went to their demo site - logged in instantly (no downloads, no accounts necessary apart from CTW) and was greeted by one of their support guys (i'd gone into the wrong room) - he was amazingly friendly and answered all the questions i had about the software in like 10 mins - i thought "this is the way forward in support - REAL TIME". Then I thought wouldnt it be great if you were joining a clubbing site and IMMEDIATELY you got talking to 4 or 5 people about going out THAT NIGHT etc... - just think it would be easier to make those last minute meet up decisions etc...

I was meaning to reply to this post yesterday and was going to say you shouldn't bother, but now I'm starting to see your point.

 

It would have to be quite prominent and well integrated with the rest of the site. So that people actually bother to use it. A new memebers not going meet people in there if theres no one in there in the firts place.

 

I think the only reason no one used it before is because no one else did, and talking to yourself is no fun for anyone.
