What is this site about? Once it was many things to many people.. . now it seems even more like a place where a very few people post lots and lots.

Bit like serious world then, although, the serious board doesn't get as much Traffic as ClubTheWorld.uk. But then, as James has said in the past (numerous times in fact), it's not a numbers issue, it's about getting people together when we go out, which in fact, we have a MASSIVE group when we DO all go out together. Some people don't post as much due to other commitments, but they still make the meet ups, which is absolutly fantastic. smile.gif

and some hard house event's and dj's get promoted

Other website like CTW, promote DJ's. I fail to see this being a bad thing and as James' idea, is to create club meets, then it's working well IMO.

Also, Serious is more House / Funky House / Trance orientated. Why ? Looking by fact material, it would be because of the genre the MAJORITY of the Message Board Members take an interest in. YOUR problem, to me, seems that there is far to much Hardhouse orientated nights / Promotions / DJ's etc, on this site. James has said numerous times that his idea is to cater for ALL genres. I know for a fact the MAJORITY of the Members on this board don't soley like hardhouse, but they like a variety of music, as with myself. But most DO attend hardhouse nights. I don't see why that should bother you so much.

QUOTE
Hardly likey to get people dropping everything to log on.

Again, it's no numbers game. It's about potential meets, dude. smile.gif

And it's easy to say 'well if you don't like it don't come here and don't post', but that is exactly what's happening. As CTW seems to be hemoraging active posters.

Well to be honest, with you, it's not suprising people want to not come back on and post when they read remarks such as yours and Dons. ClubTheWorld IS an active site. There are Members who DO post on here and more so on OTHER sites, too. It may not be busy, or AS busy as it used to be, but the board still stands and is still building. excited.gif

Oh but what about the meet up's ? erm Widchild, Lashed & Tidy.

AGAIN, people will go where they WANT to go. If you take a wee look in the events section on this forum, you will see there are various events matching various Genres in various LOCATIONS of the UK. Even stretching to the likes of AMSTERDAM. (Which is going to be mega, BTW). I believe people will go to such events where they KNOW they will have a good night, meet some wicked LIKE MINDED clubbers and listen to the music they like to listen to. I mean, for me, that's my enjoyment. As with most other I would think ?

QUOTE
When we used to have all those meet up's up and down the country, mid week drinks, serious, frantic, bedrock, the end, and many many more.

Well, considering CTW is about meets at big events aswell as small, what is your point ? As for the smaller meets, as you know, Kev was running this side of events, but he has decided at the moment he has lost all interest in clubs and meets, so it was put on hold for a while but as I said, if you look in events, you will see that the members are meeting and making arrangements. As for the up down country clubbing and meeting up, it is ongoing. People DO travel down to London. People like Louise, Dawn, Jimmy, Liamstyles and more, travel down AND vice versa.

I agree with much of what lizard says, except that on boards where the majority tacitly agree to ignore stuff they don't like, don't agree with, rather than reacting The community becomes a great deal more friendly, and needs a lot less policing.

If people ignore problems, Ian, then they build into bigger problems (that's why I have an appointment at the dentist tomorrow ! excited.gif ).

As this is a Community of people who aim to get to know each other on a more personal level as well as virtual, I think it is good to air problems rather than ignore and brush under the carpet, life doesnt run smoothly when problems are ignored. And how can it be friendly if people dont really agree but just keep quiet ? That, to me, is more 'two-faced' than anything.

I don't think anyone really has the right to complain about lack of meetups anymore. Fair enough, Kev has gone but nobody has stepped forward to take over his role oficially or unoficially.

Organising a meetup is simple.

Say where you'd like to go and when.

Maybe getting a new events coordinator would be something James would like to consider?

I'm out pretty much every week but often its spur of the moment - its usually only the WC, Serious and Tidy events that are really plugged on this board... Events are listed, but its often 'would like to go to this but can't' so there's no-one to start the meet-up. You make your 'i'm up for this, anyone else?' post and wait, often in vain, for replies...

this is especially true for the technoheads out there.

Agreed. I can't understand some of the flak that CTW gets ... a lot of the "problems" are down to the members - not the website, not the way it's run, not the "mission statement"...

There is a circular problem where, when people perceive the "main" members to have gone, they go too! People will just end up hopping from board to board, some leading, others following.

And I agree with Alasdair, the forums are CTW for many people and there's nothing wrong with that (unless you're stuck in the 20th century and think the internet is solely for geeks, or you're too "cool" to have friends online...)

I was/am of the belief, that unless a CTW Dj is playing at said event or CTW are promoting the night then it isn't a CTW meet up.

Perhaps this is another thing that needs clarifying!!!

It seems to be (dare I say this) only southern events (of course i'm not including the one's further afield than the UK) that gets pinned, why is this?

I can't recall the works event that many CTW members attended being pinned or plugged.

Even World Dj Day that was souley for charity never was.

well, maybe we should get together & arrange some more meets up north, as Lou say's though, some of us do have trouble getting to these places due to having children, getting sitters etc, but it is not impossible as Lou has proved it can be done, but I have difficulty now because Tony is playing out most weekends at the mo, but it is something we should look into more grin.gif

Did the promoter or poster ask for it to be pinned??

I didn't know the promoter had to ask for it to be pinned or plugged, perhaps i'm not the only one.

Is that how it is done then? ... just through asking, and I persume it would be James you ask?

That's been said since the day I joined ... think the Nottingham meet was proof people aren't willing to make the effort.

That said, I for one was SO glad I went on that one thumbsup.gif
