At the end of the day you can never please everyone. There will always be someone who is not happy.

Maybe that is what this board needs.  Fresh flesh.  Fresh, genuine people who really are up for supporting ClubTheWorld.

thats where the problem is,

i always try to welcome the newbies, in fact iv probably welcomed every newbie and been nice, gave them a chance to fit in, but unfortunately not everyone is like this scratchy.gif iv seen where newbies have answered a genuine post with a genuine answer and got the old "who the fuck are you" and "dont you know who i am" comments........some of the regulars may know whos taking the piss and whos not but a newbie wouldnt.

as for the people not supporting CTW.......we all support CTW by posting, meet-ups etc, ok some of us cant make all the meets ups, some of us cant afford it or have other commitments, (like me being skint & people up north that have to make a whole weekend of it).....i dont want to feel like just because i cant make a big meet i should be excluded from the group.

i am a genuine person, i have suppoted CTW and i will carry on supporting CTW, even if its from a distance yes.gif

Hello louise, can I say on my first post you gave me a scratchy.gif

Dont want you to contradict yourself.

actually i was doing the scratchy.gif at the previous posts tongue.gif i said hello to you yeahrite.gif otherwise id have qouted your post grin.gif

Ok here's my two-pence worth smile.gif

I don't normally bother with web forums at all...why? because in my experience they don't work...they're a lovely idea...a space on the net where, from the comfort of their offices or homes, like-minded people can share views and opinions about the things that interest them. Unfortunately for...well, anyone concerned really...human nature just doesn't work like that and what they *actually* turn into is a place on the web where like-minded people try and convince everyone else that they know best through the power of scathing insults and schoolyard namecalling, eventually the whole thing descends into packs of people who agree with each other marauding about the threads looking for anyone who disagrees with them...or just anyone who happens to be around...and flaming them whilst cackling madly...well perhaps not the cackling madly part...but you get the idea.

But the problem with both the 'Ideal'and 'real' versions of forums is they centre around one idea...the 'sharing' of your opinions (note the quotation marks round the word sharing...yes that means i'm being sarcastic)...which is where it all falls down really, I don't care what anyone says, deep down you always believe that *you* are right...I know I do, even when i'm wrong I still don't care what someone else says, as far as i'm concerned i'm right smile.gif and that's not just me being arrogant ('cos i'm not) it's just the truth, as far as everyone's concerned *their* opinion is the right one...therefore trying to convince them that *they* are wrong is not just intensely difficult, it's impossible...even if they agree with you it's more than likely just to shut you up! you're NEVER going to change someone's opinion by talking to them about it because we're only people...which means we're petty, small minded, jealous, egocentric idiots (myself included...obviously to a lesser degree than the rest of the world but still a little bit smile.gif) which is all why I don't normally bother with forums, after all i've got better things to do with my time than waste it on people who get their kicks from being rude to people behind the safety of their computer.

You'll notice, however, that is said *normally*, I think CTW is a bit different than the other forums in that it seems to be a friendlier place...it certainly should be since that's what it's trying to be...a community...and that's what brought me here and is why i've been posting more recently...because it seems a lot friendlier and more effective than certain other forums I could mention. Yes lively debates are interesting and make good reading but when does a debate stop being a debate and start being a slanging match? Yes too much moderation is bad but if there are obvious rules and they are blatantly flouted surely you'd expect something to happen? And yes (even to me a relative newbie) the board seems quiet at the moment but would it make things better if everyone were to start being 'controversial' (which in this instance seems to mean insulting new people they don't know) again and making people, like me, not bother with the site anymore? I certainly don't know smile.gif

Sorry about the long reply sorry.gif

Hmmnn.. I disagree with that !

Many a time I have thought I am right - or, I have 'settled' with MY opinion and that is that - BUT, I have always seen other peoples point of view and others peoples point of view, more often than not, has changed my OWN point of view.

I am ALL for listening to what other people have to say and I am ALL for taking all information on board, regardless if I agree or not.

So am I...but what im saying is that if you've formed an opinion about something and you feel strongly about it no amount of discussion, debate or arguing is going to convince you otherwise...yes you'll take comments on board and yes you'll listen to people but that's not the same thing as changing an informed opinion and more often than not, especially when people feel strongly about something, a 'discussion' will turn nasty...that's why Jerry Springer and his ilk are so popular smile.gif

Back on topic...

Ian, I am much the same. In fact my participation here has dropped markedly, and I don't know why.

I think it's down to missing the old place. When the site went down, I was checking back every half hour to see if it was back. I didn't want to go anywhere else, I wanted to be here.

But then it all started to slip away, and by pure chance I reaslised it was back up.

(Plus there was some unpleasantness in seriousworld).

And now it has all changed. Or maybe I have. It's strange. The old characters have gone, and with it the character of the site has changed.

I'll still be popping in from time to time, but it will never be the same. sorry.gif

Well, that's a fact.

Everything changes and everything is never how it was before.

It's what the people make it at the end of the day.

Im still up for making this site go -------------------->

Perhaps people who used to post a lot on here have just got bored? If they're anything like me they'll find something new...get really into it for a while...then the attraction will fade...and they'll move on to something else. When I first started using Ebay I got sooooo addicted to it, I couldn't stop looking for stuff and ended up spending a fortune on obscure crap I didn't need smile.gif...I used to spend ages on B3ta but don't go on there much anymore...there's a car website called FDUK that I used to spend ages on but don't really bother much with anymore...that's just the nature of things I think and maybe that's what's happening here?
