The Day Today

I was meandering around the local über-Tesco's last night (does anyone else think these things bear a striking resemblance to an airport terminal?) and, despite best intentions, found myself in the DVD's and Games aisle *again* (always a dangerous prospect for yet another ill advised impulse buy...just because I understand the concept behind 'point-of-sale' doesn't mean im any less susceptible to it...apparently) and after remaining strong for a while smile.gif I happened to see a box-set of 'The Day Today' and my resolve crumbled...and it got bought...bugger smile.gif

But despite the fact that I shouldn't really have bought it 'cos i'm skint smile.gif as I was watching it I remembered just how funny this series was...and remembered that when I first moved "daaarn saarf!" absolutely no-one had even heard of this programme when I mentioned it...and im wondering...does anyone on here remember it?

whats an uber-tescos?

über-Tesco's...as in one of the really really big ones smile.gif

You get the dots above the u by pressing option (or alt if you're not old school) then pressing u...but that's on a mac...so it may not work on a PC.

Was Steve Coogan in it?

Yep...it was where Alan Partridge first made an appearance.

The people who made it were Chris Morris, Steve Coogan, Armando Ianucci, Peter Baynham, David Schneider and Doon Mackichan...who all went on to be involved in some of the best British comedies over the last 10 years smile.gif

The Day Today was good.

Much prefered Brasseye though.

True...any comedy that can have a law passed through the House of Commons about a drug it made up demands respect really...picturing Bruno Brookes dark warnings of the dangers of 'Cake Abuse' still brings a smile to my face grin.gif
