CTW Members Rob D Posted March 12, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 12, 2003 Anyone else using these? or Macs for that matter. They are so much better for music production. Pro Tools 6 is awesome and I would highly recommend it. Quote OSM aka Rob D www.aptrecordings.com
CTW Admin James Posted March 12, 2003 CTW Admin Share Posted March 12, 2003 Am in the process of wanting a new PC, primarily for music creation, am now seriously thinking about switching to Mac, although all my software is PC-based Can you outline the big advantages in moving to mac to me so I can make a more informed decision. CTW Admin James Posted March 12, 2003 CTW Admin Share Posted March 12, 2003 that was another serious consideration for me - logic is such a nice app and with it going on the pc it draws me even closer to the mac. I guess i'm gonna have to make the switch sooner or later, so it could well be bite the bullet time. Does anyone know if software costs much more or less on the mac vs pc ? CTW Admin James Posted March 12, 2003 CTW Admin Share Posted March 12, 2003 wow - that aint as pricy as i thought have you chosen the digital or analogue route for mixers etc??? Most shops seem to be putting me off digital - slightly confused why. Quote James@ClubTheWorld.uk CTW Admin | ClubTheWorld.uk | Twitter | Instagram Clubbing the world, together ... CTW DJs Ian Cashman Posted March 12, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted March 12, 2003 my mixer is digital...but it had loads built into it that an analogue wouldnt have all my synths bar 1 are digital so it dont make a lot of difference to me...the sound can be warmed up at mastering stage
CTW Admin James Posted March 12, 2003 CTW Admin Share Posted March 12, 2003 yeah ok cool. It was one of the top guys at Digital Village (http://www.digitalvillage.co.uk) in Barnet (one of my faiv shops) who were putting me off going digital - recommending a good old Mackie analogue mixer for clarity etc.. But ALL my production will be digital so dont really see the point in missing out on all the extras in the digital world... CTW Admin James Posted March 12, 2003 CTW Admin Share Posted March 12, 2003 one thing i couldnt believe recently was the amazing price you can get 2nd hand desks for - and most of the time they are in MINT condition. I'm talking about desks which sold at 600 going for 200 etc.. amazing. And in the past i always stupidly bought new - it just aint worth it - especially if you are constantly switching/upgrading equipment, which is what i see myself doing. People have a lot of respect for their gear so 2nd aint a bad thing at in all this arena.
