CTW Promotors SarahPVC Posted March 17, 2003 CTW Promotors Share Posted March 17, 2003 I would use our Djs as residents of course with maybe one big name DJ playing each week to headline it. CTW Members Belle Posted March 17, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 17, 2003 Ohhh...I like this thread 5 stars pleeze!! I saw Ferry at Aria (in Montreal) last week and although very good, he was really [censored] up. Accidentally stopped the music at least 3 times, and the European boys behind him dancing around I'm sure didn't help LOL. Anyways, he was the most enthusiastic DJ I've ever seen!! Carl Cox might make it on the list. I have a radio one mix of his from Singapore Andy Farley....goshow sent me his cd entitled 'one from the hard box' - one of the best CDs I've ever heard spank you!!! He'd be on the list. I'd also like to book Sasha and Digweed, cos I have a CD from the two of them (in Chicago I think?!) and it's WIKID!! I'd also have to put PVD on the list for obvious reasons. And Deep Dish, who are a really unstoppable pair in my opinion. Creamy, from experience, if you want to make any real $$$ in this business, you need to book the big names. In other words, it takes a small fortune to make a big one. But I like your style of booking up-and-comings, cos most of the time they're just as good as the big names, just not yet a 'household name'. My club I'm not sure of the hours. Depending on where it was. If in Ibiza, it would never close (during the season that is), and would have a chill-room component for downtime. In Montreal they're generally open until 10 or 11 am, which seems to [censored]. Quote I am NOT a dj

CTW Members Belle Posted March 17, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 17, 2003 opening times would be 10pm-4am. i've been to nights which don't finish till 6/7am and the atmosphere is just too weird - after 5am the room is just full of pilled-up fucktards with no co-ordination, desperately trying to convince themselves they're still with it and feeling the music. finishing at 3am is just a little too early, so probably 4am (or 5am at a push). hehe, In Montreal most clubs don't get going until 3am headliners don't start until 4am and play until 7 or 8 usually and they don't close until 10 or 11am. on big nites, there are lineups until 5am!! Usually people who are new to clubbing here are done by 5 or 6 am cos they showed up for opening at 1am and are too tired to keep up (unless as u said they're too pilled up) what's the point of going home if you can't sleep? CTW Members TomD Posted March 18, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 18, 2003 belle> fair point! i suppose if you can't go to sleep then there is no point going home, but it's the casualties that you see just wandering aimlessly about the dancefloor that make me just think "is it all worth it?" this might make me sound like an old man but if you're getting to the stage where you're taking more and more drugs just so you can stay awake and see the big DJ of the night -- because he's scheduled to play at 4am -- rather than staying because you're having a really good time and it's the excitement that's keeping you awake, then having clubs shut at 7/8am (or 11am) just seems to be stretching it too far, and moving too far away from what it was originally all about not so long ago (i.e. people just getting together and having a dance) turning it into a competition to see who can stay up the latest, or how many biscuits one can munch. it'd be interesting to see what would happen if the big name DJs were scheduled to play at, say, 1am or 2am, and the other less well-known DJs played afterwards; I think you'd see a drop in numbers after the big name finished their set. CTW Members Mr Moo Posted March 18, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 18, 2003 And I think my night would have to be very varied....lots of small rooms, dj's hmmmm Paul Van Dyk, DJ Zinc, Bad Company, Plump DJ's, Scratch Perverts, Peshay, can't think of any more at the moment. There would be the biggest softest sofa's ever and a great chill out room, which members could stay in after the club closed...... What do u think of these Breakbeat specialists? There in Peterborough soon!
CTW Members TomD Posted March 18, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 18, 2003 What do u think of [Plump DJs] [censored] amazing considering their productions, remixes and their recent Fabric mix CD. i'd say go for it. will be worth every penny.
