CTW Admin James Posted April 1, 2003 CTW Admin Share Posted April 1, 2003 I have to say this phone is the abosolute DOGS BOLLOX - and well worth £250 on a new contract (i was switching to Orange anyway). I DIDNT get it for all the flashy features - i got it purely to sync my [censored] email/tasks/calendar which works perfectly and BETTER than my old PDA. But.. there are loads of extras which just keep impressing me more and more now - the most important one being that you can have PROPER internet - and i've just downloaded the new 'Opera' client, instead of using the standard supplied one, and its the dogs bollox - its faster and it supports javascript - i can access the whole CTW site and even check/send PMs - ANYWHERE. This is 100x better than the SPV and it also does support MSN Messenger and all other messenger clients - not yet set this up yet though. Digital Camera, Video, MP3 Player, ext. memory slot, games - its the nads - I also want to develop some apps myself for it and there is a whole development kit available for it (c++/java..) O yeah, and the whole screen is touch sensitive and you can input via handwriting recog or via virtual keyboard. I've even taken off the hardware keyboard now - you dont need it. The MP3 player is CRYSTAL as well. I DO now seriously recommend this phone - it is NOT just a toy and you quickly get used to the size of it as the functions outweigh the extra weight (although its still smaller / lighter than my old pda!) CTW Members MattD Posted April 1, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 1, 2003 Isn't it pretty big compared to the t68i? I looked at it myself, and it's impressive!
CTW Admin James Posted April 1, 2003 Author CTW Admin Share Posted April 1, 2003 dont matter mate - its well worth it - i used to carry 2 devices round - now just one. Camera will never replace my dedicated digi cam though. I think you will see phones going larger again now due to the required screen size. I was in 2 minds about phone going large again and didnt think they should be integrated with cameras etc.. but i've changed my mind - you can do everything on one device now and because its a phone/pda you can browse the net anywhere - this alone makes it worth it. The SMS and emails are sooo clear and easy to read / reply to - no more pre-emtive etc.. - its soo quick - and no more memory space problems - i hear you can get memory cards up to a GIG now! Also I dont need to carry my minidisc on train to [censored] as i've got mp3s on cards - although its bloomin slow transferring - it wont completely replace my minidisc, no way - but its handy for the train. no radio though Quote James@ClubTheWorld.uk CTW Founder | ClubTheWorld.uk | Twitter | Instagram Clubbing the world together ... CTW Members TomD Posted April 1, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 1, 2003 is that the one that has Windows on it? i got bored to tears the other week by a mate deciding to show me this new toy he had (sounds like that one) and how good it was that he could play a video clip from "The Office". problem was that we were in a club and he was [censored], so i had to just nod and smile and go "hmm that's really interesting mate" as he continued to try and shout out the feature list over the loud music, i didn't hear a word he was saying and i just wanted to walk off! fancy phones are alright but it's a big to showing them off in clubs to people who would rather be paying more attention to the music.....!! lol

CTW Members Blink Posted April 1, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 1, 2003 But can you make phone calls on it, and does it vibrate? That is, after all, all you need from a mobile phone, the ability to make phone calls, and text people! I think having the word PHONE in its descripition gives it away
CTW Admin James Posted April 1, 2003 Author CTW Admin Share Posted April 1, 2003 I've never seen them, but I WANT ONE NOW whenever i upgrade my phone i always expect to pay £100 odd for a good phone which isnt going to get outdated too quick - I would NEVER pay £200+ but this is deffo worth it (although you would need a new contract otherwise you are talking perhaps £400). Its available on Orange AND Vodafone now but Orange had far better deals and all my mates are on Orange. My old PDA was £350 and its not even half as good as this phone - so for £250 its deffo worth it - should last me a year until the contract runs out ! haha No, I reckon I'll have this for a good couple of years perhaps. The great thing was i didnt have to set anything up - i synced it once and everything was there - all my contacts/emails/phone numbers from Outlook 2002 were there instantly. Graphics are not as good as SPV but then its a business phone and not a games machine. Quote James@ClubTheWorld.uk CTW Founder | ClubTheWorld.uk | Twitter | Instagram Clubbing the world together ... I think having the word PHONE in its descripition gives it away yes true blue, and I used to think this - but as with everyone requiring phones now days (have you tried a week without one - i did and it was hell!) I think more and more need a pda to organise their lives better (i know i do), plus i get to read all the emails i normally miss on the train. For me and the type of [censored] i do its deffo worth it. I can even FTP/telnet into the web site and fix problems ANYWHERE. Remember its all 'software' so loads of new stuff coming out all the time. You should see the wireless bluetooth headset - its gorgeous! CTW Admin James Posted April 1, 2003 Author CTW Admin Share Posted April 1, 2003 touchscreen? fuckin ell i'm having one. i wouldnt normally bang on about a phone as i know there will be upgrades out and better ones in 6 months time but i DO think this is a great buy and it will be at least a year until the best rival comes along - but then Sony will have another. Sony Ericsson will corner the market i reckon - i thought that with the T68 which i loved! Maybe wait 2/3 months for it to come down to £200 possibly ? CTW Admin James Posted April 1, 2003 Author CTW Admin Share Posted April 1, 2003 This is how mine is configured - its fooking LUSH. O yeah, the handfree sounds crystal as well - its great for when you are laying in bed talking to people - you can also use ALL the apps on the phone at the same time as talking!! So I can check my calendar on-the-fly Quote James@ClubTheWorld.uk CTW Founder | ClubTheWorld.uk | Twitter | Instagram Clubbing the world together ...
