Just had my phone bill through....

Huge fucking bill, caused by an internet scam, where my flat mates pc (mine doesnt have a modem) seems to have been dialling loads of international and premium rate numbers.

 

Has anyone been caught by this? Can these calls be disputed so we dont have to pay for them?

Is it insured? Dispute it through those channels if you can.

Didnt know you could insure against phone calls like that, apparantly you pc dials these numbers without you realising it, otherwise i'd just tell him to pay it (and to get himself a shag!)

yeh my uncle had this problem, call your service provider, get lots of blockers on your pc, its diallers & they are a shitter & should be illegal

Did your uncle have to pay the calls? Our bill is normally just line rental and is just used for broadband as we use our minutes on our mobiles to make calls, it pisses me off that BT never bothered to ring us to say that we've gone over our credit limit, and that the calls on the bill were very out of character... bastards!!!

this scam has been round for ages unfortunately, i've heard stories of computers calling up BBS's in other countries for hours.

 

my most recent visa bill was somehow £130 and I'm ded chuffed

our phone company is a right scamming twat our actual call charges are usually arround £40 every 3 months but some how they manage to slap another £40 odd quid ontop of that for rentle and service charges

Thats ok... it was 292 quid... just got off the phone to BT, and they say that it has to be paid, but need to refer to ICSTIS to try and get some money back
