£890 stolen from my account!

I found out last Monday that £490 had been taken from my account so had to go police and bank to get it sorted. Ive now got that money back. But i get my statement for this month sent to me and find out another £400 had previously been stolen!!!

The police think someone put cameras and a device in the card slot to read my card details and see my pin number. They've known my details since beginning of the month and been waiting for money to go in so they can take it back out! Fukers!

I never wanna use another cashpoint again!

Has this happened to anyone else??

Yeah ive got a new card sent to me now. There wont be any more money goin missing

 

Just gotta wait to hear from the bank whether they pay me the rest of the £

I dont think i can get compensation

I will be happy just getting my money back first anyway and any charges on my overdraft paid back.

can see why you cant - we would of been seriously fooked that weekend if i hadn;t of had that fiver in change - plus you've been stressing and worrying...

You'll be lucky (unless you have actually made a material loss as a direct consequence, such as incurring overdraft penalties). Then again, I don't know, you can get compensation for anything these days...

 

There are other possibilities about how it happened - the "dodgy cashpoint" thing is not one of the more common scams. It's more likely that, if you have paid for anything on your card, a cashier has sneakily "swiped" your card and bought goods over the phone or internet using your account number. Easily done! If you've bought anything over the internet, there's another possibility as to how someone could get your details.

 

As for "never using a cashpoint again" ... there are other greater worries when using cashpoints ... like being mugged! (My g/f has been mugged twice at cashpoints!) Just try not to use cashpoints when nobody's around at night.

Yeah, thats another thing ive worried bout before. Its happened quite alot in my town so im def not gonna use them from now on.

or just stick to using it during the day when peeps are around & take someone with you, if you feel that worried hon

Yeah i will prob have to do that cuz its unrealistic of me saying ill never use another cashpoint again!

 

Im gonna keep an eye on my account all the time too now, i never used to check my account before which was a bit silly!
