Installing windows

I dont think so, i think its because Windows Me is older, and also that its different technology (Windows ME is based on the Windows 95 Kernel, and XP is based on the Windows NT Kernel.... I Think!)

installing operating systems over operating systems is a bit dodgy at the best of times, whether you go up, across or down (me > xp, xp>xp, or xp> me).

if you replace your current OS with a new OS, i'd doubt windows would be clever enough to remember all the registry settings for your other installed progs, so you'd have to reinstall your other progs neway.

back up your personal files onto a CD, make sure u have original installation files for everything, then wipe the drive and start again.

Alternatively buy a legal copy of XP and install again keeping your old settings mostly intact.

Righty, gonna whack all my important stuff onto cd and try and get ME back on again then. Wish I'd just kept it in the first place rolleyes.gif

I sent Microsoft a cheque for £200 for all their good work last week, so I can't afford to pay for XP.
