It does seem to be getting more about people promoting their DJing/nights, as opposed to being just about people meeting up for a night.

But maybe that is just a perception thing, meet-ups do still happen just for the sake of going to a night, maybe it is just that there are now more posts from people promoting stuff.

Please explain with your answers.

Personally as you know all I personally like to do it go out and have a good laugh - meeting up with people etc...

BUT CTW has (and has to have) 2 direction now. We DO need to push the DJ/event booking side of things as this is exactly what our members have requested - that "everyone gets a chance to DJ" etc... - also we HAVE to push the revenue side of the site so we can support the growth of the site, and even more importantly the current maintenance of the site.

It would be very nice indeed if server costs didnt go up in relation to members joining but its a fact of life i'm afraid.

Sarah/Gilly/Butch are going to concentrate on the DJ booking side of things

I'm going to concentrate on expanding the web site and also working on a much better Event Submission 'service' and get away from everything being dumped into the forums.

I personally DONT think things have 'gone down hill'. Of course they are NOT going to be the same as they were a year ago when we had 100 members - we have to accept this and move with the times.

Are you part of the problem or part of the solution ? Anything and everything can change on CTW to the way 'WE' all want it. This is the difference between us and other sites - we will make the right decisions as they will be based on what the members demand.

If i didnt have to do a day job i reckon the site would be in a lot better shape than it is today and things such as communication of events, newletters etc.. would be far more professional. We will get there, but slowly.

End of the day I think the meets are still going VERY well and this is the foundation as to why the site is so strong still.

I'm quite frankly amazed that people supposedly working for / helping the site can only slag it off at times.

Surely we're just doing both now ? And longer term we will be doing 4, 5, 6 'things'

not having a bitch at CTW or anything, cos ive been here for months and really like it - but the reason i left other boards is because they started making forums u cant post in, only read, which i think is particularly shite becuase if u read comments and want to say things back (serious things) and cant its gonna get ammoying.

Clubtheworld is expanding bigtime and its good and it needs support from people like spinback which is gr8, but everytime i come on the board i see people promoting other websites and other nites out (non-ctw), and although its good can we not have a completely separate part the board for promotions etc and leave the meetups, and going out and enjoying ourselves to the main board.

summary of wat i just wrote cos i cant write english to save my life

1) dont start making forums we can read and not write, will cause irritation and leavers.

2) business is promotions and expansion (ill gladly help in both of these for james and sarah or whoever if they need help) and pleaseure is silly posts, smutty posts etc and meetings. most people on here are signing on to meet people like them talk shite have a laff and meetup, business everywhere will send em elsewhere!

i cant think rite at the mo ill edit this and add more later wen i can think .

still love u all lol grin.gif

p.s. y not have www.spinbackuk.dj as the business side and leave www.clubtheworld.uk to people looking for laffs as we all werew 6 months ago or wen we joined. People will still visit both but at least they can have their choice.

one other thing to remember, AND THIS IS NOT A DIG AT ANYONE!!!!!!! people such as Gilly and Andy and butch, tony etc.... say no its still pleasure, but this is also their business and they enjoy it cos thats what they do for living etc so its still going to be pleasure. again i cant emphasise enough how i get on with all the dj's i know on here and love wat they do, its just not everyones taste.

To be fair, if you want to progress to be a force in the industry, and promote yourselves/djs then it's the only logical course. No-one's selling out - you can't expect to function on goodwill and sticky tape.

Its' the same place 4clubbers was last year, and something has to give. 4c isn't always as fun as it used to be, but I get immense satisfaction out of writing/workign for them, just as I do with anyhting to do with CTW.....

It's a logical preogression but it doens't mean to say the fun is on the way out... shrug.gif

What about the other times, when everyone thanks one tho? Doesnt that make u feel good?

If everyone told u they was very happy, then the site would still be the same m8!

should we stop allowing people from promoting their own nights then ? Again I thought this was what we and other members wanted to allow, to make it 'different'. Clearly 4clubbers are right in deleting promotional posts then ? Personally i dont agree with this.

I DO think though that the whole event organising side of it should come OUT of the forums and into a proper engine - which I am going to work on as-and-when i have time. It will basically be how harderFaster do thiers - properly...

What I meant was that there are more posts about promoting now. When I joined there were 500 members, and so what, maybe 10 people promoting nights, so the proportion of posts promoting a night were probably about 5%, whereas there were maybe 15% of posts about meet-ups (total random figures I have guessed at). Now I would say it was more like 10% posts about a night being promoted (and its associated meet-up) and 10% posts about a meet-up for a non-CTW/DJ events.

I am not saying this is a bad thing, but I agree that maybe a bit more delineation would be useful. (But that is mainly because I come on here for the chat, and the occassionally meet-up, and 90% of the events, or cd's being offered have no interest for me, but I would never advocate getting rid of it, I would love to have a site like this where I could promote my band and get gigs etc)

James, this isn't a criticism of you or the site, I am very impressed with what you have achieved with this, it is only my observations. thumbs.gif
