me tune i was considering submitting to ctw tallent showcase cd

its a bit techy drivern nu nrg with a trancy breakdown. again i tryed to avoid going too far down the genre road as i dont want my tunes to be pigion holed

(btw wub - i have done a few modifications to it since giving u the cd, but only in that i've cleaned the samples up a bit and normalised it better and removed ne clipping. however from the encoding to mp3 u wouldnt notice it

youve obviously got it sussed how to arrange tunes in the software that you are using... cos you have a complete tune here...

constructive (i hope) critisism

 

 

1- the mix down is very poor... levels of instruments seems all over the shop.. theres no ambience to it

 

2- the loops themselves are very weak... theres no real groove to it , it comes across as a lot of racket!!

the hat and percussion loops are either too obvious or kind of just not musical.

 

3- its far too long and it doesnt seem to build up to anything... it just kinda bangs along for 9 mins with no point to it

 

this isnt a diss.. all my early tunes were guilty of the same crimes... you cant sort it out till someone points it out tho can ya?

 

good start tho dude... keep it up what software do u use? is it reason? (im not gonna diss it dont worry, just curious so i can help you out) i used to do techno years ago

 

the loop you got at 7:38 - 7:44 is wicked. work on that but dont overdo it.. techno...keep it simple and dont crowd it!!!

thanx 4 ur comments - just a couple of points tho-

wasnt trying to produce techno. wasnt trying to produce nu nrg either. was trying to do sumthin a little merger of the 2. (a bit like "Ali Wilson & Matt Smallwood - Devastation" but only darker, much much darker)

 

the lenth of the outro was deliberate as well - it was designed to be used to be able to bring other tunes in and do a good long intermix and fuk about with.

 

mind u - just cuz thats the idea i put behind this it dont meen thats how i'm gonna keep it - if its [censored] like that its [censored] like that and need changing.

 

can i ask 1 question modula - if u were givern this tune to engernear(sp?) - what direction would u go and what would u do to it (this is more curiousity than me going to take ur advice mind as if i was to re-enginerar(sp?) this tune i would probs just start from scratch again)
