I am SICK of the news :@

The news reporters know NAF ALL.

How can they say that this young girl was PUSHED into taking an E when she freely went and freely bought those ###### herself ?

If this dealer forced her to take these (as they more or less said), then im sure to fuck that someone like one of her mutual mates would have come forward and reported the "dealer".

It pisses me off SO BAD that these news reporters think they know it all about drugs when they have not a clue but yet just try and scare the public. Yeh, it's important to be safe, but how about pointing out what safety measure you should take when taking ###### at illegal raves and night clubs instead of feeding the viewers with nothing more than a crock of shit ?

I have seen this story on the news too many times today, and each event of watching it, I have just wanted to jump into the TV and give the news reporter one massive smack in the face coz they know nothing !

Jesus - I HATE THE MEDIA SO MUCH YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW !

If it's one thing that makes life worse, it's the media with their FACTS OF FICTION !

makes it even worse as it wasnt because of the side effects of the pill, it was because she had fallen over (not collapsed) and hit her head on some stageing/podium and didnt have any side effects and died 7 days later

You see, the news / media think they can educate people. They aint fucking coucelors (sp) and it's themselves who need educating !

Im very touchy when it comes to the media - as you can tell wink.gif

mixmag is good tho - i like its honest way of reporting, like when i first read about GB, K and 2ci..i was in a 'look were know your going to take this, so do it carefully' way of reporting instead of 'your going to die' blah blah blah...

sometimes mixmag glorify drugs a bit tho..

shame for the poor lass tho sad.gif

i do still worry about pillls etc...worrying 'is this going to be the one'..but then i stop stressing, i know im with u lot who always look after me if i get too messy...

whilst most news stories are blown completely out of proportion and context (eg 45 minute claim and hutton enquiry) they do actually do a lot of good in the form of investigative reporting. Ie Going undercover and exposing things that the government aren't lifting a finger to investigate properly (saw a good one where they investigated this money lending business with hidden cameras and the money collecting woman told the undercover guy that they charged extortionate rates of interest - in one case 430% APR for quick money

I was going to post a gag about flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality but it's just flogging a dead horse.

At least the tide is starting to turn now though, with the realisation that the drugs laws aren't working and the decriminalisation of cannabis.

The police know there's a difference between heroin addicts stealing to fund their habit, and people just going out at the weekend to have a good time, who has perfectly respectable and responsible (well, sort of!) lives in the week.

They just need to convince the politicains now... rolleyes.gif

I'm sorry Jilly but I disagree with you compeltely here.

The media is too huge to put under one sweeping banner of "miseducation".

Obviously each newspaper has it's political leanings and views on things that represent those of their readers. There's no point the guardian promoting right wing issues because they'd lose their readership.

As with anything that is personal opinion rather than just pure fact you're going to disagree with the stuff the right once in a while. On the whole the media in the UK are VERY good at telling the truth. Obviously someone like the daily mail are going to say "evil drug kills girl", there would be uproar if they were seen to be promoting it.

To counter your point about Mixmag, Mixmag are a rag, nothing more nothing less. The whole publication is a complete joke. What was once well respected with good articles is nothing more than a trashy teen mag which glorifies drugs. Funny how everyone started fucking up on 2ci as soon as Mixmag said it was the best drug since sliced bread. That kind of reporting is a lot more irresponsible than the sun blaming a death on ecstacy. As it was ecstacy may have contributed to the death by affecting her coordination and may have caused the fall.

I love the media, I love the breadth of topics it reports on; not just news but commentary. You have to take everything you read with a pinch of salt, as with everything that has an agenda. To dismiss the media as bad like a lot of people have on this thread is narrow minded. If you disagree with something, disagree with it - at least it's given you a forum to think.

yeah i get your point there kether, i find the media really interesting esp when its around general election time (bet yous thought you wouldnt hear me say that!) as i love everything about spin and partys battling against each other... The media is really interesting that way, its amazing how many peoples views can be changed with one story.

Anyway..im getting of the subject here and was going to write a rant on politics (wtf! i did get the highest mark in my year at school for it tho smile.gif )... yeah mixmag can sometimes be interesting and sometimes it can be shite..

but if youve got half a brain you will make your own mind up and have your own views and not hang on every word a reporter writes...
