I think it has dragged on a bit too long personally - its not as if the americans have been funding the IRA since day 1 and supplying them with weapons (they have by the way). Do we still hold memorials of such public presence for all those killed as a result of the Irish conflict? I think its a good thing, as the americans might think before they act, rather than just charging in and carpet bombing places and acting a bit like the school bully.

Agree with what you say partially - but you can't say its a good thing at all. The people who died then had absolutely nothing to do with the decisions that that tosser Bush makes, do they?

Only one positive came out of the whole affair - it opened the Americans eyes to what a terrible thing terrorism is. They had no true experience of it before, whereas we have been dealing with it for decades and lets face it they weren't that keen to help us when it was only our problem.

I was at [censored], caught bits of it on the internet, still can't get my head around it.

As for the America/IRA thing, coming from a military family, and having been a "legitimate" target for the IRA, I still don't think there is ever a justification for what happened. Yes it opened America's eyes, but I can think of better ways of doing it.

*hugs* to everyone in the US

i think people are missing the point of it being such a terrible event. no matter where it happened...if it was america, england or china....anywhere. its still such a horrific event with terrifying results.

i may only be 19 but this is the one main event that i can remember in my lifetime that has changed the world. maybe cause it was only a year ago but on such a scale as it happened, the people involved should be remembered. it is a warning of terrorism for us all, not just america.

What's more the people that suffer the most from it ie the victims had nothing to do with it. Its only a few twats sit round a table that can't agree. Maybe an unpopular opinion but it is wrong just to go and flatten Afghanastan because of this incident. After it happened innocent people were getting killed there too. Women, children, babies - because a missile missed it's target. No one can say thats justified. 2 wrongs definitely do not make a right!!

I must say I agree with Rob D on this one.

Its a shame that 11/9 happen but its just kepting going on and on. Now I know its terrible especially for the people who lost love ones, but it was just waiting to happen to America they have been need to be brought down a peg or two for a long while.

They needed to recieve the end of terroism after they fund the IRA and half of them think there soldiers on the streets of Dublin.

The other bad point is that they have given there idiot of a President some thing to do for the next few years that could get more people killed.

Harsh but fair

i'm being quite conservative in my reply when I say dont like comments like that

that sort of attitude aint going to get us very far is it... in that case you are saying we deserve to get such a terrible atrocity set on England after all how many terrorists and militant organisations have we sold arms to in the world (think you will find quiet a few) then we would be talking our loved ones and people being killed... you might feel different then mate.

to get to the real problem... put pressure on the leaders of our countries but don't gloat when everyday people like ourselves get killed because of our countrys politcal interests like making money out of wars... oh and read up.
