rubysky is still open but i do not go there much. it'ds a bit of a crap 'scene'. once in a while somebody good will play there and i'll go but generally i avoid it...

 

1015 Folsom is still open but has changed a lot even in the 5 years i've been here. a variety of factors have contributed to a 'decline'. i put that in comments because it's not really got worse - it's just changed a lot. they were under the police microscope for a while and, as a result, the place is like a fortres now - heavy-handed security, etc. the vibe has gone a bit for me. still, i have had some of the best nights there - i dropped my first e at 1015

 

The EndUp is still going strong - a SF institution as you know. best time is 6.00am on a sunday morning when the place is full to the brim with sweaty gay guys, nasty trannies and mad tweakers. it's a hell of a party

i've not been to a spundae party for a while. i got rteally into psychedelic trance so my favourite party is now Thump Radio.

 

what were you doing here? i have a really good friend here in san francisco who is from holland - her name is elena. do you know an elena?

Ruby Sky stuck in my mind because of the originality of the venue! Agreed, the place was full of pretentous and wannabe or actual 'high rollers.' But, I thought the building was gorgeous, inside and out...I loved the coziness of the upstairs cigar room. Most impressed by the dancers in the main dance hall, elevated on the 2nd-story stage, dancing behind a white screen, so that all you could see was their moving silouettes. Also, 1st time to witness live percussionists/drum circles in sync with dance music, creating a real tribal sound.

 

Don't know an Elena.

 

Landed a job here after finishing college last year. My father is from here (all of his family lives in NL), which was my initial reason for choosing this area of Europe.
