How close to death have you ever been?

i was mugged at knifepoint bya very spun guy two weeks after moving to the US. i went to go in my briefcase for my wallet and he freaked out because he thought i was going for a weapon. i thought i was going to die then.

 

i think i've come close to ODing on cocaine once or twice.

I got hit by a lorry on the M4 and rolled my car over 6 lanes,miraculously walking out without a broken bone. Just kept thinking " this is a really stupid way to die".Not sure if that helped, but did the job !

 

also got knocked out by a golf ball walking down the street but that a different story and probably explains a lot

God I feel so lucky now. The worst I've ever had was damaged ligaments playing rugby - In no way a near death experience, but its the best I've got.

closest ive been is a car accident, as a passenger, my side of the car got hit by a tow truck..escaped with cuts etc but a literally millimetres from being blinded in one eye

i was driving through one of those roads under low-arch bridges, where lorries have to go into the middle.

 

at night, wet, i drove straight into it on the left hand side, and realised there was a lorry coming through in the middle, combined speed of about 70 mph

 

hit the brakes "gently"? abs kicked in, some gut reaction made me steer the car into the space between the left hand wall, and the side of the oncoming lorry (had less than 2 seconds to do this) . somehow fitted it through the gap, without touching anything. must have had inches or less either side of the car. hardly had enough time to even get scared. shit me up proper for the rest of the night.

Did it end with a double barrel roll throw fire and buildings and stuff. You jumping out of the window, rescuing the girl, riding off into the sunset on a Harley you nicked from the petrol station?
