CTW DJs Tony P Posted May 12, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted May 12, 2004 I've just found out that when in Poland i'm playing two 3 hour sets. I've never actually played a set in a club that long (2 hours is the most i've played). anyone ever played this long before and you got any pointers for uncle Tone?...like what about if i need the loo ................... CTW Members Aaron Posted May 12, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted May 12, 2004 (edited) i've done four hours, if i need to go off somewhere i either stick a long record on say about 9 /10 minutes, or i used a track off a CD that i prepared. Each track contains two tracks that i mixed together, thus giving about 12 minutes or so to go and do whatever! CTW DJs LiamStyles Posted May 12, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted May 12, 2004 The fact that you are playin funky will work in your favour, alot of scope to play around and "do more" with your set. What time are you playin Tony? My advice would be to start of with a bang (but obviously not your best tracks) just to get the dancefloors attention, then take it in another direction once youve got them with you, take in some differetn sounds to keep them interested and show them a diverse sound that you capable of pulling off, then bring the final hour to a climax with all the belters. Is the entire night funky? Or will it build up to something else after your set? You'll find you will have to "work" alot harder with a 3hr set, its not like a 1hr hard house set where you stand back and bang it out to the dancefloors delight (im sure you are already aware of that fact) but if you do the business you will feel so good after the 3hrs mate. You will get the long set buzz like I did and want longer and longer. next you'll be doing 6-7hr sets like me As for needing a piss, it can be done (just run). But I tend not to drink much when im playin long sets and i find that helps. CTW DJs Tony P Posted May 12, 2004 Author CTW DJs Share Posted May 12, 2004 cheers Liam sound advice... the night is progressing into Progressive trance, so really gives me alot of scope.... don't really have to stick to funky house, but will definately use that as a starting block and foundation....probably play some house and deep house even stretching to some prog trance. as you say i think i'm really gonna enjoy it. thanks mate
CTW Members power_slough Posted May 12, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted May 12, 2004 Just imagine if you had to do a 3hour set back to back with that Ben Wong. You'd probably get about 25mins on the decks!!
