Well to b honest id rather pay to go to an event to know atleast if anything goes wrong im more in safe hands than i would b at an illegal rave. The price you pay to b in a safer enviroment?

As much as a nice idea as that is, it will never happen. The vast, vast majority of public opinion is that drugs=bad. If the government tried to do this it would most liekly be political suicide absically. How many votes do we have and how many votes come from people who detest drugs with a vengeance and won't listen to any arguments whatsoever?

There will always be police there anyways, even if drugs were totally tolerated, there's public safety issue of if violence or any other trouble kicks off, then people would say " where were the police when 'such and such' happened".

Also fair rnough the no camera policy, that's up to them, btu from what i've gathered from this thread, camara's will be on sale inside the arena, so it's all about the almighty £.

How's this for a theory.

 

Prohibition has never w.orked, does not w.ork, and will never w.ork!! Every one in authority knows this, but cannot say it.

 

No one in the Government, the establishement, or the industry has a problem with any drug taking except for skag, and crack. And then only cos of the horribly addictive nature of these two.

 

In an ideal world, we would have legalisation, and free market in legal drugs of all descriptions, like we have in nicotine, alcahol, and caffine. All would be free to buy over the counter, except skag and crack, which would be decriminalised and controlled, by G.P.'s.

 

Why does this not happen. Cos it's not in the intrests of the drug producers, and dealers, and prevention agencies, police, and prison services. Becuase For every pollitian that promotes it, 10 will use it as an excuse to have him replaced. Because too many busy bodies, have a vested intrest in keeping drugs illigal. Cos people not dieing of illigal drug overdoses, doesn't sell newspapers.

 

We need to start fighting back. If event's get heavy about drug use, even for PR purposes, boycott the events. The only way they will get the message.

 

If your parents don't know you take them, have the debate.

 

Write to your MP asking why it's ok for him to get blind drunk, perhaps crash his car and kill someone, perhaps go home and beat up his wife, perhaps dies of long term liver failure, and cause a huge drain on the country, and not for you to take a pill that makes you happy and more in tune with yourself and others, with few if any side effects.

 

This debate needs to be had at all levels and by all people.

NO EXCUSE for this behaviour - would be different if the event was free or £10 but they are like £30/£40/£50 a ticket - and they want MORE cash from you post sales!?

 

Still gotta pay £5 for car-park yet!

 

As for cameras thing - if it was to 'protect' the public from seeing clubbers off their tits then why do they still allow cameras at Summer Sound System? Its purely to cash in as they have their own photographers there!

In fairness to GateCrasher though, if you were in their admin / staff department and knew you'd be coming into this ' earner ' , I don't think you'd complain, I certainly wouldn't !

 

Yeah, they are a superclub and yes, more consideration should be given to the loyal clubbing armies, but ultimately, business is business and unfortunately, money is a key factor in making the world tick on.

Godskitchen is another Superclub but they treat their clubbers with a lot more respect! It also reflects this in the numbers that attended Global Gathering compared with Summer Sound System & the amount of complaints following the latter this year regarding Carl Cox incident & accusations of cashing in on their clubber members.
