I have started getting SQL errors appearing at the top of the screen and now all posts are listed as new ie. shows full stats for each post as opposed to only the new ones being highlighted in yellow.

 

Is there anything you can do about it ?

this is due to a corrupt mySQL database table - unfortunately I can no longer access the tables / fix them from my [censored] place as they blocked me!!

 

Will sort out as soon as I can.

 

In the meantime I think you can still post, just, but you will continue to get errors.

Its a bit worrying, - what if the whole db got corrupted?

i've turned off post tracking to try and reduce the number of errors until i get this table fixed.

 

You therefore wont be able to see the number of new posts/new replies counter for the time being.

well, exactly - but thats why we take backups as often as possible.

 

Corruption can happen at any time - still not sure what is causing it as its in-consistent - we can have weeks of no corruption then corruption on a table which has never been corrupted.

 

At first I thought it was the new entrance page as this is a 'hack' but i'm not so sure now.

 

I will get to the bottom of it but it just takes time.

 

Sorry dudes - if I didnt have to [censored] [censored] I could get this stuff fixed and the whole problem resolved much quicker !

managed to get into the site through a backdoor and sort it! Lets hope the posts table doesnt get corrupted otherwise we'll be f*cked until tonight!!

 

I think the corruption is coming from the ENTRANCE PAGE hack I implemented - its done it once before on another table (the table used for who's online) - so, again, I will have to remove the entrance until I've checked the entire hack out properly - I think its just doing too much and mysql probably cant handle it / doesnt close the db table properly - but then i dont know much about mysql as Oracle is my area.

 

Please try to not use the entrance too much for the mo, however i know its the default for the community. URL and also currently the link from the homepage.

Oracle is a huuuge product - I know the sql, forms, pl/sql, pro*c side of things, with 'some' dba skills

 

moved away from it recently though as i'm getting into parallel processing technologies (something called Orchestrate by Ascential software in the US) utilitising C++ and also getting more into CORBA, which is nice! (not as complex as it sounds though!)

well to save people usin the entrance why dont people bookmark the main forum summary page to stop the rigmarole of goin thru it all and then just get onto the message board?!?!
