CTW Members Agent Posted November 18, 2002 CTW Members Share Posted November 18, 2002 I just read this.................. 'After nearly 7 years of banging tunes we at Tinrib have decided that the time is right to quit while we’re ahead. The final 12” release is RIB060 – Weirdo’s huge trance anthem ‘The Other Side’ – a massive tune that is a worthy final release from a label that has undoubtably contributed much to what is now called the Hard Dance scene. Rather than slinking off into the shadows of forgotten labels we have decided to celebrate Tinrib with a CD of all the best bits from our 60 releases. And who better to ask than the people who have supported us & bought the tunes. We put the word out asking for peoples favourite RIBS & the response was phenomenal, tailoring a track listing that spans the entire life of Tinrib as a label. It really is the definitive Tinrib CD, aptly named – ‘Best Of Tinrib ’96-‘02’ – Ultimate Beats From the Deep’ – in the shops now! As everyone who runs a record label knows, times are tough. Record shops are shutting down, distributors are struggling, and manufacturing & overhead costs have rocketed over the last couple of years, whilst sales are down across all genres of dance music. But it is not just about money. Tinrib was one of a handful of pioneering labels set up in the late 90’s dedicated to quality harder-edged tunes, and its founder Jon bell (Captain Tinrib) feels that it has fulfilled the dreams & ambitions that he held back then, and that now there is little room for creative manoeuvre within the brand that he created. It is time to take on new challenges & explore other avenues of music that simply can not be done within the realms of Tinrib. But never fear – The Captain’s ship ain’t sunk yet! He will continue to bang out hard & havin it tunes & remixes – but simply on other labels, And with more free time the artist album that he has been planning can finally take shape. The crazy Captain Tinrib live shows will continue – his promotional tour for the new CD starts in November and we are already locking in dates for 2003. And the club night Superfish! will be keeping Tinrib’s memory alive with dates in 2003 starting on 29th March @ The Fridge with the original crew & Djs. And all remaining current & back catalogue can still be obtained from Amato & the Tinribstore. Finally we would like to thank everyone that has supported us over the years, all the artists that have collaborated on Tinrib, especially Weirdo – in our view no-one can bang out a trance tune like him, and of course everyone that has ever bought our records & CDs. Tinrib as a label may have unleashed its final tune but at least we know that we had it larger than most for longer than most!' CTW Members Mr Happy Posted November 20, 2002 CTW Members Share Posted November 20, 2002 dont worry bout it guys i really cant c the sound dieing off - ne1 thats been that successful *WONT* just leave the industry. i reccon the captain is baord with his label, sound and image and wants to try sumthin a little different. all DJs and producers change thier style ecept the captain. and dont 4get that weirdo, steve thomas and karim releaces stuff on the tinrib label (and even have thier own labels) so they will still be producing. paul glazby produces stuff not a million miles off RIB and he looks set to continue in this fasion 4 a while longer Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/
