[may be repeating things..]

it could read as the girl only changed her mind once her mum found out. so the girl deliberately kept her mum out of the loop because the girl may only have thought comfortable in her decision if she knew her mum didn't know about the whole thing.

looks like her mum might only be annoyed BECAUSE she was kept out of the loop (the fact it was an abortion might not matter), in a way this might be a wake up call for her mum, that her little daughter DOESN'T want her mum to be involved in certain things. shrug.gif

Can't be bother'd to quote your posts Kether ... but I agree 100% with them.

I'm lucky and know full well my children could and would come to me if anything like that happened, equally i'm not selfish enough to expect them to come to me with everthing.

IMO the girl only changed her mind after the event because her mother fount out and it was in her best interest to side with her mothers rantings to shall we say 'keep the peace' she did a very mature thing by consulting others about it in the first place, there's not many of that age that would discuss it, other than with their mates.

A female will get alot more accurate none emotional professional advice from school counsellors than a mother.

People who blame the parents or society make me laugh, you can wrap your kids up in cotton wool but it's not going to stop nature happening, you can not be at their sides 24/7 and although you make think you know their every move you won't, but I don't believe the education of children should start and end in schools, it has to be brought into the home aswell, and be disscussed openly.

No one should be naive enough to think that it's not going to happen to theirs, we all hope and pray that it won't but all we can do is guide.

I agree Dawn & tbh the only person in this whole episode, who seems to have any real sense, is the 14 year old rolleyes.gif As you say she obviously didnt feel 100% comfortable going to her mother so confided in the school counsellor, who really, should have contacted the mother, before actually doing anything, however I do stil think the mother, herself has clearly got some kind of issue's, explaining why the daughter did not go to her in the start, purely because of how she has handled it since smile.gif

turns out this counsillor wasnt a counsillor at all unsure.gif

she was a 21 year old trainee social worker on a day release programme, who herself had had a abortion at an early age. she was not allowed to give out advice without her course tutor present but arranged to meet outside of school.

i'm sensing this post is heading towards the nature and nurture debate.

It's both dude. The parents are still to blame, for their genes and parenting skills.
