[ Site News ] - New Server & Memory - TODAY

Our hosting company has finally agreed with us that there IS a problem with the server we are running on.

 

They are installing a brand new server TODAY and they are also chucking in some extra memory for free, which should also help address a couple of the other 'hanging' issues we've been having.

 

Hopefully this will be the end of our problems with the box running slow but we will hit data transfer issues again soon so I'm still seeking some reasonable advertising to a) pay for the existing server costs and help fund the next generation box / more powerful server we're after so we can house mp3s, videos, web radio streams etc..

 

Still loads to do but just wanted you to know that we are trying are hardest to make progress and make the site more stable and I haven't got lazy ! Unfortunately until all these basic framework issues are sorted out its pointless me adding new functionality and cool stuff to the site.

 

Fingers crossed the site will run much better from now on and we wont have hours of downtime in the week like we have been having.

 

Please note there may be some downtime at some point today whilst they switch the disks over etc...

Well it looks like our hosting company has twatted-up AGAIN - they were meant to just switch our disks over - instead they have given us a new box but expect us to set it all up from scratch - plus all the DNS stuff is different etc.. - great. We've emailed them back and told them this just isnt on and we were under the impression we wouldnt have to do anything. They also forgot to put the new memory in. So we're still on our old box for now ...

How much do you pay for it? How much disk space do u need for the site?

server costs are £200 / month at the mo - but already wanting to have faster box - its too slow with not much memory on.

 

We've got 20 gig total disk space, using about 10 (box is currently shared with my mate). We've got a limit of about 40 gig data transfer a month, getting close to that already - using 1 gig a day just on forums.

 

FtB - We're not gonna pay them any extra - we want the new box free as the current one is broke. Trying to haggle for mem free as well ...
