ADHD ... SAD ... it's all bollocks.

Yeah, I feel more "down" in the winter as well ... yeah, I have a lot of the symptoms of "ADHD" ... but the only condition I've got is that disease called "being a human being". I have emotions and I'm not always rational ... but I don't attempt to justify the way I am by blaming my parents/god/whoever/whatever for making me the way I am.

Who the hell decides what is and isn't an official condition? How many people have to have the same symptoms before the condition makes the transition from "inexcusable" to "excusable"? It's just another example of people not accepting responsibility for their own actions.

"Russ, you're a stupid bastard."

"No Andy, I've got MIS (mental inferiority syndrome) so it's okay for me to be that way." smile.gif

Pretending these things are comparable to actual diseases (i.e. things that can kill you, or have adverse effects on you physically) is an insult to anyone who has a "real" condition, like spastics or epileptics.

It's just bollocks IMHO. I'm all ears if anyone feels differently.

If you choose to get so drunk that you physically can't say "no" (i.e. your drinks weren't spiked) then you've gotta take what's coming to you.

and there are other forms of protection yes.gif

btw, Im in agreement with your points about ADHD.......which i shouldnt do really as i am in the process of dealing with kids with these problems, im not saying ADHD doesnt exist no.gif i just think its been used way to often as excuses in bad behavior, its all to easy for a child to be diagnosed with behavior problems when it might be a family/friend/ thing or even come down to what food there eating.

how come our generation or previous generations never had real bad problems with our behavior? and other 'illnesses' like dislexia? sometimes (not always before you all shoot me down rolleyes.gif ) its an excuse not to try to behave or not to learn (i know this all to well because the girl i used to babysit for was diagnosed with dislexia & she was let off homework, had less schoolwork to do & help from a teaching assistant......give her a teen mag to read & she would have no problems reading it lol.gif )

Kurt Kobain?

Load of old bollocks ADD is...

same as SAD...

We can't all be 'normal' and 'happy' all the time- popping pills to solve all our problems doesn't work...

bring back personal responsibility and fuck off all these 'new' conditions.

I have a medical condition that means I cannot work most mornings... what drugs do I need?

ADHD and SAD are medical conditions.

Some people may have some of the symptoms but it doesn't mean they have it. Just like having a bad hangover gives you several of the symptoms for meningitis.

Some people diagnose themselves as having the disorders when they don't but I'm certain both conditions exist. ADHD has genetic links and SAD can be detected by chemical imbalances in the brain.

Why are you so sceptical?

if my brothers do not have there ritalin, they are a nightmare, it does calm them down.....but i do believe some mothers try it on to get extra money from the government, by getting there kids diagnosed with this, as i know woman in my street who has done this, and noway has got it!!!!

But i have said this along time , most of the time it is an excuse for them.

Ritalin is my mums only hope for my twin brothers because no one will help her, and she has been every where to get help...i am surprised she has not had a breakdown!!
