CTW DJs LiamStyles Posted January 24, 2005 CTW DJs Share Posted January 24, 2005 Say if you are making a track in something like cubase, you have a kick drum looping on it. You then play in some percussion (ie hihats, toms etc) when u play them in they may not be exactly "in time" so if you quantise them they will then be in time (depending on the quantise settings) Quote LiamStyles Bet you look good on the dancefloor *LiamStyles - mixes on rotation* Current mix "No Concept Of Time" CLICK HERE

CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted January 25, 2005 CTW Members Share Posted January 25, 2005 fifedjdomo, I hope you're taking the piss... So you mix * cheesy Euro trance * some mainstream disco house * a couple of half-decent trance & hard trance records by very well-known producers You have 40 records, and you are telling Ian "he must not be a very good DJ?" Basically mate, you don't have a clue what Ian is on about, do you?

CTW DJs Ian Cashman Posted January 25, 2005 Author CTW DJs Share Posted January 25, 2005 5 identical rhythm patterns. Top one is bang on time to every 16th of a bar. (Heavily quantised) bottom one is very loosly quantised. each one has more 'shuffle' added as you go down. if a record has two busy parts that have different degrees of shuffle applied to them, when you are in the mix it may appear that the record needs correction in the mix, even tho it is in fact in time. these records can be a pain. Hope this explains it.

Basically mate, you don't have a clue what Ian is on about, do you? 154823[/snapback] and im supposed to know about a load of shit that i not heard before............ i may mix a bunch of shit to you..... "a DJ is only as good as the tune" they say... i like my tunes... some are a load of bollox that i dont play (such as scooter and ultrabeat lol dunno what came over me for that like) i have not a clue what ian was talkin about, although i thought i did. im gonna take these comments with open arms and an open mind.... im here to learn also. i can mix and do lots of things any dj can do. thus hearing the boys problems with mixing out of certain tracks i thot 'well bleh, how can u no do that?' so maybe i jumped on something ive either not experienced yet or something ive not taken notice of and learned to deal with it properly off my own back... ive only been in this game 2 years, and on my own... taking notice only of any decent stuff i see on nukleuz or in hmv, and look out for some stuff on the euphoria albums cos they choose real decent tunes... so lets help me be a decent DJ woo! CTW DJs LiamStyles Posted January 25, 2005 CTW DJs Share Posted January 25, 2005 Mate, not to worry. I do think you shouldnt have commented on this subject the way you did, seeing as you clearly didnt know what Ian was talking about (which you just agreed) But, dont feel as though you cant comment in future. Just make sure you have something constructive to add. This isnt really a chat forum, its for semi-serious stuff between producers and djs. Advice etc, well you know the score. I just think thats why you got some of the replies you did.
