For your pc i'd say things like Reason, Logic, Cubase etc are what alot of people use.

You'll have to findout which you prefer or find easier to use and stick to that.....

Im not up to date with the hardware side of things at the moment, but im looking at getting an 'access virus kc'

How long is a piece of string?

How much money have you got, what sort of music are you planning on doing, is it gonna be live/live & studio or just studio? Are you gonna want live instruments like Guitars/Violins/bass, or is it all gonna be midi-controllable? What have you used before?

Download a demo version of Reason for a start...think it is www.propellerheads.de

Try Fruityloops, don't know where to find that.

They are 2 programmes you can use to build music totally within your PC.

Don't forget monitoring (listening to the audio), you are looking at £150 for a half decent pair of near-field monitors.

It is a huge topic.

i would recommend going the software route like these bad boys are suggesting, then try out all the different hardware once you get a better feel for what you want. in my opinion, other than the hands on use of hardware, you can do very well just with software......

pick up the magasines Future Music and Computer Music, and if you feel like reading something boring, get Sound on Sound.

good luck! thumbs.gif
