CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted March 16, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 16, 2003 In a nutshell: I'm looking for fairly hard techno. I buy a mixture of house / tech-house / techno. However I've recently got into a slightly harder end of techno, and I am trying to find some good record shops in London that sell the kind of stuff I'm after. This is the point where I try to explain the style of music I'm looking for without knowing any actual examples of it!!! What I am looking for: * 135-140 bpm * dark/raw/energetic * sort of like a techno / hard house crossover * the slightly more minimal/underground/tough/intense sound of techno (Sven Vath etc) but with more of the "punch" and drive of hard house * If you've been to Slinky in Bournemouth, think of the kind of hard stuff the residents play. * Think of some of Nick Sentience's more technoey productions. * I also like the pacier end of progressive, nothing too plodding and dull though! Examples: The best examples I can think of from my own collection are: * Nick Sentience - "Digital Dialogue" (Nukleuz) * Pounding Grooves 28 * Pornographic 005 * Drumcode 23 * some Eukatech stuff * some of Brian Zentz's and Rino Cerrone's harder productions ...although I do realise some of these probably aren't very well known!! What I am NOT looking for! * hoovers / silly vocal samples * that dull, samey, unimaginitive hardhouse offbeat-bassline * cheesy trance breakdowns * anything excessively fast (>145bpm) or nosebleed/industrial techno * anything that sounds like nearly every Tidy Trax / Nukleuz record in existence! Can anyone recommend some good record shops or labels who do this kind of stuff? Cheers
