if u want the samples that u have on vinyl i would try to find the original sample as u lose sound quality when its recorded, and unless u have the best needle you can have then it probably isn't worth it

having said that, do use it in the mean time until u can find the original

Sorry Ben, thats crap. The quality of sound on vinyl is the best. I use samples of vinyl all the time and they sound perfect. Once they are layered into a track you wouldnt notice anyway.

Tony, your vinyl collection is one of your best sources for samples. Especially for drum loops etc. Do you record your Mix Cds into your PC? If so then you can work the same way aslong as you have a half decent sound card. I record mine into a sampler (hardware) but obviously you cant do that but programs like wavelab are good enough for edited samples once recorded into your pc.

Or if you want, I will copy you "Kontakt" which is the best software sampler out there (that Ive used) and basically emulates a hardware sampler.

No problemo Tony, will burn it off and send it tomorrow.

The fact you dont record straight into your pc works in your favour. Like you said, its kind of a round about way of doing it but the sound quality will be better.

I'll burn the manual onto the cd aswell (if I can find it) as its a very indepth prog. Like I said it basically emulates a hardware sampler and it is the dogs smile.gif

....a quick note.

if you are gonna go down the soft-sampler route, then id say good on you cos kontakt is a wicked sampler well worth getting your head round.

you can quite easily use it for ALL your sampling needs... IE ALL your single hit drumsounds layed into premade kits (or groups of a similar sort of drum sound) layed out across the keyboard.

once you start accessing your drums and sounds in this fashion, you will find you know where all your drums are and how to manipulate them as and in whatever fashion you please very easily.

then you will want to start arranging your tracks in a similarly easy fashion.

ie, dumping the crappily arcane 'fruity playlist' and working with a proper arrange window a la cubase/logic.

ive said it time and time again... Fruity is a competent program that gets the job done as well as any other program, but like reason its flaws are in the toytown way you have to arrange tracks, digging into stupid places to get simple things done. i had fruity on my pc a while back to have a look at it.

its a prog that has , to its detriment, evolved in an arse about face way.

it started of as a simple 'loop writing' tool and has added sequencing (song writing) functionality afterwards.

it works but its an arse about face way to write any tune if you ask me.

people that live by it ....fine. they prolly learned music production WITH fruity so they no no different.

i dont think you will find many people who leared cubase or logic first then decided to start using fruity, cos its a daft way of working if you ask me.
